Thread: TNL Bicycles Volume I: Wild And Wacky Action Bike

  1. Too old to ride a bicycle? No. Too smart to ride a fixed gear deathtrap so I can hope to impress and fit in with some sheepish girlymen at a coffeeshop? Yes.

I wrecked so bad taking a turn too fast with my inside pedal down back when I first started riding.

Luckily I was like a quarter mile from school so I just walked the rest of the way. Came into class with my palms and chin completely torn and bleeding. But yeah I've never even thought about how much that must suck on a fixed gear. Chalk that up as another reason I never want to have one.

Oh come on, you know it's because you don't have a Macbook Pro. Otherwise being king of the coffeeshop would be so easy; fixie bikes are only a few hunn-ed.

Anyway, I'm considering getting cross tires for my bike whenever mine finally go out. They're a bit low on tread already.

  4. I'm considering making my bike (old stumpjumper) work again.

To what extent is it not working?

  6. Flat tires. My tire was flat so I pumped it up and it held air. I got several miles from home and the thing blew out like a car in the movies like *POW*. So then I was in the process of moving and I didn't fix it. After I got all moved in here I fixed it and was stoked. The next day I went to ride the thing and my back tire was flat again. I looked at it and it was like somebody had cut the sidewall with a razor blade. I decided it was against me and said fuck it. That was four years ago.

It took me about 8 months for me to get around to fixing my bike. It wasn't really an issue with cost; I just didn't feel like it.

It wouldn't take much to fix yours up... Just a few fresh tubes and a set of tire levers (just a few bucks). Yay Wal-Mart.

  8. I'm pretty sure I have several tubes and I definitely have the levers. I was just feeling defeated (the last slash of the razor or whatever happened while I was home alone with the bicycle in my garage) and didn't even want to think about it to the point where I pretty well forgot about the thing.

  9. where the bikes at?

  10. I'm doing my damn'dest to gain weight, so all extra cardio has been cut out.

    Including bike riding.

I walk past my mountain bike and think of all the single tracks and jumps I should be bombing over and it makes me
