  2. I remember the very end boss of Duck Tales being weird, what was it?
Quick zephyrs blow, vexing daft Jim.

Quest of the Avatar was ultimately done by Infinity. The contracting/subcontracting on that was quite...convoluted...as my GDRI colleague Iggy found out when he e-mailed Infinity president Yukio Horimoto almost two years ago to the date. The NES localization was done by another Japanese company called Atelier Double.

Ultima: Exodus was also Japanified, but I can't pinpoint the company that did the NES version. Here's the guy who did the music, though.

  4. The music in shadowgate always freaked me out.

It still kinda does actually. :x

Everything this else I can think of has already been posted.
If you love Legend of Kage do not play the NES version. Ever.

Nice picks. Dragon Warrior and Final Fantasy are a must for RPGs. I figure the Legend of Zelda is obvious.

Not sure why Dragon Warrior didn't hit it big on its own. Nintendo Power was giving away free copies with subscriptions to build that fanbase beyond those of us who bought it Day 1.

Those games are no longer awesome today, though. They're archaic grind fests.
