I was working (installing fiber optics) at a chemical plant back in 1990, in Pampa, Texas. The plant was leveled back in 89, when a propane tank used for the burn towers exploded, causing shock waves all the way to the town 5 miles away.
One day while I was there, one of the burn towers had too much pressure and the flames were flowing onto the ground. They wouldn't let us leave the building we were in, because they said they needed to keep a head count. I told them I'd be in that open field in the distance, because I wouldn't have a head to count if I'd stayed.
