The best athlete of her generation? It's a completely ridiculous claim. Is she as fast, strong, and agile as Adrian Peterson or LeBron James? Their argument is based on her relatively weak competition. You could use the same "logic" and claim some eight-year-old who dominates his soccer league is this generation's best athlete.

It's hard to cross compare anyway so it's not a claim anyone should really make without a crazy comprehensive contest.

If there were no gender separation in professional tennis she'd probably still be a pro, but the top of the top men's players are playing an entirely different game.
