I made another batch of gruel tonight. A pound of ground beef, two diced onions, five diced carrots, a few cloves of garlic, three jalapeņos, corn cut from two fresh cobs, two cans of tomatoes, two cans of kidney beans, and some frozen peas, because fuck, why not. I seasoned it with curry powder and plan on eating it with rice. I am in eager anticipation! It's like a mix between generic chili and curry.

    Fuckin' Black Bean Brownies

15.5 oz can black beans, rinsed well and drained
    3 large eggs
    1/2 cup applesauce
    1/2 cup cocoa powder
    1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup white sugar +7 packets stevia in the raw or equivalent
    1 tsp instant powdered espresso
    1 tbsp of baking powder
    1/2 cup dark chocolate chips

Dump all ingredients except chocolate chips into blender and process until smooth. Super smooth... this is important.
Pour into 8x8 lightly greased pan, top with chocolate chips

    Bake 30 min. @ 350

    Fuck yeah.

I am eating one right now. They are fucking AWESOME.

  4. So wait, calories from fat are addition calories in the food separate from the calorie count at the top of the nutritional label?

    Wat?

  6. On a nutrition label it has two calories categories: Calories and Calories from Fat. Are those two separate numbers that I should add to get the total calorie count or are calories from fat taken out of the Calories category? I'd post an MS paint but I'm on a Macbook so wtf.

  7. Calories from fat are represented in the total calories. No, I don't know why they make a distinction.

Black bean brownies sounds pretty good, after making cake with mashed potatoes I can see how a bean texture would work with a fudge-y brownie.

    Random internets:
Total fat intake should be 30% of your total daily calories. So, if you consume 2000 calories each day, no more than 600 calories should come from fat. That is where the "calories from fat" on food labels can come in handy.

  9. The more you know!

There's a sign on the soda machine at work saying no more than 25% of the calories in your drink should come from sugar. So where exactly am I supposed to find a soda that has any calories not from sugar?
