Thread: Let's Cooking: TNL!

Just got a super small saucepan that looks like my grandmother's old pots and pans at goodwill for $2. Its heavy duty. I am very excited.

I also saw the exact same stock pot selling in a real store for $30. Whooo!

Tonight I made a rare tuna steak with sesame seeds crusted on the outside and motherfuck it was good.

  3. So I went to target, and other appliace centric stores here in the armpit of america, texas, and no luck on the super egg/muffin toaster, I guess I am going online. Damnit and I was going to impress the girl with my raw shopping skills. I did get MLB Front Office manager though.

  4. I love tuna steak. I hate canned tuna, as a rule. It reminds me of cat food way too fucking much. I swear those marketing fuckers just changed the label on high-quality cat food and started selling it in supermarkets. Sesame seeds are an interesting choice -- and actually sesame seeds go well with a whole host of things. In many instances where you put nuts or raisins you can sub in seeds, too.

Here. I can not vouch for the 4 slice one. Only the two slice one.

Have you tried those bagged packages of tuna? Surprisingly good. For whatever reason the tuna in bags is much more flaky and a lot less smelly and gross looking. I enjoy making a good tuna melt out of them sometimes with a really nice relish from a company called Wickles.

  7. Josh: Ordered, will give feedback when I get it with happy pics.

I saw them and they looked interesting, but because of the bad taste the canned stuff left in my mouth I guess I just wasn't biting. My opinion of processed tuna was already in the bag, so I just couldn't sink my teeth in to the idea. I might give it a try next time I see them at the grocery store.

The bagged tuna is alright. Although, if I remember correctly, the price by weight is almost as much as cheap "real" tuna. I would still only use it for tuna salad sandwiches.

    Her recipe is as follows:

    3/4 cup butter-flavor Crisco
1 1/4 cups light brown sugar
2 tbs milk (I used soy milk here)
    1 tbs pure vanilla extract
    2 1/4 cups flour
    3/4 tsp baking soda
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chip morsels
1 egg (I used 1 tbsp gelatin and 3 tbsp warm water)

Heat oven to 375. Combine the Crisco, sugar, milk, and vanilla in mixing bowl and beat by hand or at medium speed of mixer until well blended. Beat egg into creamed mixture. Combine flour and baking soda (you can add a tsp of salt here if you wish, I didn't) and mix until just blended, then stir in the chips. Put tablespoon-sized drops on an ungreased baking sheet (you'll need to flatten/shape them). Bake 8-10 minutes. Cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes, then put them on tin foil or a cooling rack.
Ahh, damn, these cookies are good. I forgot how good your mom's cookies were.
