Thread: Tell Me About Your Local Arcade

  1. What Nomi said. I'm sitting in there right now, between classes. I have yet to actually hear someone call Guitar Freaks a Guitar Hero rip-off, though.

It's a pretty nice little place for music games. The candy cab leaving sucks, though.

  2. There was a decent Namco owned arcade at the mall several towns over. Its dead now. The only "arcade" that is in the area is in my bitch ass pyramid owned strip mall. Its a shadow of its former jawesome glory. It has silent scope, Time crisis, arcade SCIII and Dark Ressurection. Other than that some driving games including Fast and furious and Sega GT. The movie theater next to it has VO tho. I try to support it at least once a week.

  3. my local arcade?
They all closed over a decade ago...
..oh, shit, there still are those one's at Hershey Park.
..but haven't been there in years.
Me and ECM chatted about the phenomenal Hershey Park arcade back at GameGo.
The main arcade (of 3) had many games and pinball tables from the early 80's (even late 70's). Though last I heard they really downsized and got rid of most of the classic stuff.

  4. Well, since there are roughly a few hundred arcades within an hour of where I live, I will pick my favorite.

    HEY arcade:
One floor of the arcade has about 60 shooters, all on crisp monitors with finely tuned sticks that are maintained daily. The games range from older classics to the newer Cave games. This weekend there is a location test for Death Smiles Black Label and is the only place in the world to play the game right now. Everyday world record players come here to play so there's always something to watch.

The next floor is all fighting games and has about 75 cabinets that sit back-to-back. They have pretty much every major fighting game ever made (all the KOFs, SamShos, VS games) to newer stuff like SFIV (14 cabinets) and is host to location tests of new games like Tatsunoko vs Capcom which was there last week. Hundreds of players come through on the weekends so there's plenty of competition.

But that's just my personal favorite. There are so many others around here that it can be hard to choose sometimes.

  5. The only real arcade I can think of close by keeps closing and opening back up every couple of months. Stop fucking teasing me, I want to play with that huge ass screen Marvel VS Capcom 2 again.

  6. #16
I've got a Space Invaders cab and a sitdown Jappo cab in my parents garage. I'm pretty sure it's the closest thing to an Arcade for a hundred miles or so.

  7. There's a Nickel City not too far from me. It has a couple MvC2 machines, 3S machine, some form of Beatmania, a couple DDR machines, Virtua On and Ghost Squad. Not to mention the dozen or so free games they have, like Final Fight.
    All is well.

  8. CF (referred to as CTF my non-New Yorkers) features the latest fighting, music and puzzle games. I've enjoyed going there for years and occasionally drop by to see old friends. I just hate that the place looks like a hole in the wall and that sometimes folks don't bathe.

Now, thanks to Mikhal, I've discovered TGA and it's by far a much cooler place where you can play one flat rate to play every arcade game on unlimited play for $26.00. It also features a small cafe, bowling alley and they occasionally teach the local patrons Japanese lessons. Oh and it's got SFIV so it's actually worth the commute.

  9. my local arcade is a magical place where all the newest games are only a quarter to play, and unicorns serve us alcoholic beverages

  10. I've got a Space Invaders cab and a sitdown Jappo cab in my parents garage.
you looking to get rid of that sitdown Jappo cab?
