Thread: NHL 2008-2009 Regular Season Thread

  1. Lou is the best GM in the NHL, but that's just fucking stupid. If Marty get injured and you have Weekes in the playoffs, then NJ is done.

Weekes isn't THAT bad. He's had a playoff run before, too.

Clemmer just isn't that good. I'd take a couple of picks for him easy. If someone throws a first rounder...done.

There's really no downside to dealing him. Clemmer gets to actually have a career instead of being a Marty backup, Devils get something they can use. It's the best possible scenario for everyone. Clem is also old, and we have goalie talent coming up in the minor leagues. He's ALSO a UFA at the end of the season, and you can bet someone will pay him more than the Devils would be willing to pay to get him on the roster next year, so we'd lose him anyway.

If Marty goes down in the postseason it really wouldn't matter who, from our organization's current stock, would be backing him up.

That second goal Parise had against Florida was a doozy, btw. He flipped the puck up to himself to keep it away from the D's sticks in a truly star move and knocked it in from its edge.

The Bruins are having a mini-crisis going 3-5-2 in the last 10, but I have a feeling they'll get back on track. The question is...do the Devils catch them first or not?

No he hasn't. He got hot against the Devils and then fell apart immediately. Arturs Irbe had most of that run.

I'd still trade Clemmensen. They're both NHL back ups, and Clemmensen has more value.

Here's the best non-news of the days: The Ducks will not trade Pronger.

edit: I take that back. I may have found better news: Kaberle re-injured his hand last night, so he's not going anywhere either.

If you need a D, go fuck yourself.

  7. Go to tsn.ca and launch the trade tracker from the main page.

For all your wishing of other teams getting their best players injured it would be poetic justice if Parise ran into Brodeur and both were out of the playoffs.

Man up and stop parading injuries as "good news" - it's incredibly poor sportsmanship.

  9. Wow, how low has Miroslav Satan gone? He wasn't claimed off waivers. Neither was Voros.

  10. #2110
    Why would anyone want Voros?

Anyway, the big news so far is Montador to Boston for injured Nokelainen. Bad news for us in the East.

Jokinen to Calgary. D-man Leopold too.

Ottawa is still trying to find a goalie.
