Thread: Rumor: New Strider Coming?

  1. I wouldn't take GRIN being able to do a good remake as evidence that the whole of Capcom is proficient at it. BC Rearmed wasn't even really Capcom's idea in the first place, it was a labor of love from the devs of the new BC (which in itself was sort of begrudgingly greenlit from Capcom's Japan branch).

I wouldn't be surprised if BCR's amazing sales had Capcom Japan scrambling to duplicate the feat.

Find somebody who loves Strider as much as Ben Judd loves BC and we're set. Again, as long as they don't give it to a shitty developer like Backbone, I have faith in this. I haven't got my hands on SF4 yet, but I'm confident that it's a good product and MM9 rocked me pretty hard. Until they give me a good reason to believe they're going to start fucking up again, I'm pretty much digging the Capcom of today.

That's like saying you trust a white man to drive better than an Asian woman. It has zero impact because it's so obvious.

  5. I played some Strider 2 again the other day, spurred by this news. It's still awesome and I'm still pretty bad at it, I died before the first stage was over. I remembered the easy way to beat the flying robot right after he killed me, although the dragon probably would've kicked my ass anyway.

I always wanted to get good and 1CC it, maybe I'll finally start working on that.

  6. The way Capcom did 1942 and Mercs on the 360 is NOT how I want a new Strider. And the way they did MM9 is also not how I want a new Strider. The way they did BC would be just fine, but in a perfect world they'd make it Princess Crown / Odin Sphere level 2D (which is how I wanted MM9) or do SFIV style 2.5D

If the Fantasy Zone II remake is any indication, it might not be so obvious. There might be some hope for classic Sega updates if we get more like it.

  8. Yeah, I really hope FZ II Remake starts a trend.

I wouldn't mind a Strider 3 done CPS II style. No NES graphics, please. Seeing Mega Man 9 go back to that was a bit jarring. I would've rather had 32-bit graphics, or at least 16-bit arcade hardware level.

Rolling Thunder 3 remade for Namco's System 2 board wouldn't be bad. Give Jay a partner this time, and raise the difficulty just a tad. Fix the juggle glitch. Rarely, a Masker who you bump into ends up juggling you- that itself does no damage, but leaves you as a sitting duck for another enemy who can now get a free hit on you. Add a new kind of Masker that can do diagonal shots, as well as one that can shoot down from above (similar to E-Swat).

    Finished in 2021: 8 games (PC: 4, PS4: 2, PS3: 1, X1: 1)
