I voted for the NES mainly because though I had a super nintendo, I bought a Genesis first and for me in the 16 bit era I was playing more Genesis games. As for the 8 bit era I was all nintendo. It brought me closer to video games. And I think that without a strong start as the NES had you guys wouldn't believe that the SNES would be the finest hour.

If you're proper and aren't a terrorist, you'll vote NES. Everyone who didn't vote NES is suspect and should be arrested and sent to a secret prison in China where you'll wait 10 years to be tried before you find out that the trial doesn't matter, you're a terrar and terrars don't have rights.

I remember reading the gaming mags before the SNES launch, looking at games like Super GNG, Super Mario World, ActRaiser, etc. It wasn't just Nintendo. All the big names from the arcades and NES were firing on all cylinders. It's never been as good as that, at least in the launch window.

People love to blame the death of 2D on console manufacturers.

They were instrumental, yes.

the fact is that the mass market wanted more 3D once they got a taste of it and largely ignored what 2D offerings there were.

Yes, they did. But it's kinda like the Wii and the mini-game craze; there's still a hardcore market out there that can support a game like MM9 or NSMB.

While that sucks for those of us that love 2D, it was arguably the right path for the console's image from a businessman's standpoint

Thank goodness we have DLC so this issue is now moot. But I blame the companies that might have considered 2D but weren't willing to jump through the hoops. All you had to do was make a game a "collection" by throwing in a couple low-quality mini-games (or some old 8-bit ROMs) and it could get published.

SNES...it was good enough to sway me from Genny fanboyism! I loved the NES, but somehow Nintendo topped it in every way with the SNES, and the 3rd parties were right there to follow for one last time with the Big N.

Things went downhill fast with the N64. It had great games, but nothing turned me off faster than the delays to deliver low res, fuzzy textures, low models, low frame rate...etc.

And Stunt Race FX IS the shit! You wrestled with the controls for a while, but once you got em down, your eyes adjusted to the horrid frame rate and Nintendo's magic hit.

It's pretty telling that this is the best justification you could provide for deluding yourself into believing that Stunt Race FX is anything better than a lump of shit.

In the Hunt, Raiden, R-Types, Gradius Gaiden, SOTN, Skullmonkeys, DoDonpachi, Zanac X Zanac, Lomax, and The Abe series

Point Blank (if that counts), Tomba 1 & 2, Heart of Darkness, Valkyrie Profile, Norse by Norsewest, Silhouette Fucking Mirage, Strider 2, Mega Man 8....like Tactics Ogre and Alundra

I see some polygons, ports, and a couple of less-than-greats in there, but point taken.
