Bemani is short for Beatmania. Japan has a habit of shortening the titles of games and animes to the first syllable of each each key word. Examples:

Suto (Street Fighter), Meso (Metal Gear Solid), Dorakue (Dragon Quest), Dabudora (Double Dragon), Pokemon (Pocket Monster), ect.
