    B) philosophical stuff like "what argument can a person make that their labor is worth $125,000 a year, or more" He said "feel that you need more." That is a fair question. What motivates someone to think their labor is worth that much. Especially when it is someone like Palin that will be going around talking. What argument can be made that talking is worth more than $125,000 a year?

I think there has been a fundamental misunderstanding between the two of you. The key thing he said is "feel they need." He did not say that he doesn't think anyone should have $125,000 ever. I mean crap, what if someone wanted to take out a loan to start a business. I don't think Josh would argue against that.

I think you are trying to turn this into an argument about the rich keeping their money, which it is not.
If there's a market for something at a certain price, the price isn't absurd... even if it may seem that way to those of us who have no desire to shell out. The same goes for caviar and those 1991 Nintendo World Championship cartridges.

As for Josh, I understand what he was trying to say. I just don't see what it had to do with the Palin piece he was referencing, as it only mentioned increased income as a possible beneficial result of her decision... not that it was a factor in making her decision, let alone the deciding factor. None of us know what really pushed her in this direction. Yes, it could have been for personal financial gain. But there were so many other things going on (ethics investigations and a possible presidential run, for starters) that nobody -- not even the HuffPo staff -- is willing to step up and say "I know the real reason she's doing this."

This is why I found Josh's statement to be so curious, and why I wanted to know more. It's not about starting the next great debate on class warfare; it's about Josh seeing something in the previous post that I absolutely did not see, and thus, inquiring further. That's really it.

So the $125,000 figure wasn't a reference to the $125,000 mentioned in the Palin piece in the post just before yours? The plot thickens.

I know some more educated people will disagree with me, but I'm from the old school of making money and disagree with maximizing price just because some idiot will pay it.

And I know that goes against what it currently taught in school.

Some shit, just ain't worth what the biggest dumbass will pay for it, imo

this really doesn't have to be this big of a deal.

Josh read some of the post, and got to the part with the 125,000 and thought "lol who thinks they need to be paid that much"

and then he typed it out

    and then he hit reply.

And that is a fair thing to say, imo. The article heavily implies that she quit her job so she could make more than that.

she'd got my vote if that is what she ran on

  9. You are socialists and the Christian God does not look kindly on that. I bet you are all in league with the Muslims that seek to destroy the holy land and to take it away from God's children.
    Donk
