Thread: Election Thread 2016

  1. Election Thread 2016

Sit down, junior. All she's ever said is that she will continue Obama's programs and incrementally strengthen what she can given the current atmosphere. This isn't some amazing stretch.

Sanders, on the other hand, has some science fiction for ya. You are welcome to believe it.

who gives a rats ass what any of them say? If you're going to believe everything that leaves their mouths, vote trump. He's going to make us all great!

Or, you know, look at her actual voting record.

  3. Best luck!

    She's more competent than Trump.

Bernie regularly handed people their asses in debates. Dude has an iron spine. If you're framing that his compassion is a weakness then yeah maybe. I doubt that's true because of the way he stood up for his stances.

All of this, plus the issue of money in politics. Trump got my attention early because he acknowledged it as being an issue, though he never so much as implied that he would do anything about that issue so he lost my attention just as quick. For some of us, Citizens United was a wakeup call that legalized bribery wasn't always the way of our political system. We looked into Buckley v Valeo back in '76 and the downward swing the country has been on ever since and this became THE issue for us. There are a couple grass roots movements in the country right now trying to pass resolutions state to state, and with some luck, to call forth a Constitutional Convention (a sort of "OH SHIT THE FEDERAL LEVEL IS WHOLLY CORRUPT" option that the founders left us) to pass an amendment overturning Buckley and Citizens, but a president on our side would be just the illest. Some people think that Trump could be that, and maybe that's so, but like most of his positions I have no idea which ones he actually means and which ones are bluster specifically targeting angry folks.

I would agree with this if I had any faith in our country's current supply of hawks, Clinton included. Everyone is avoiding a ground game with a real coalition like the plague due to how unpopular it would be but, for fuck's sake, it's probably what we need here. We're dropping more bombs than anyone and the shit is not working. Barely a dent in their troop levels. The people who made this mess, her included, are the least likely to get us out of this. They don't know what they're doing and, if they did, Iraq would have been divvied up into three. Or better, Saddam would still be king of his own little shit show and we wouldn't have lost the Afghan war.
So I forced my hands in my pockets and felt with my thumbs and gallantly handed her my very last piece of gum.

    Washington was a good man.

  7. It's kind of wild, he could have been emperor for life, a kind of American Napoleon, but he decided to step down and transfer power peacefully. Set the tone. Interesting to think of how things could have gone had he not.

Interesting but like, that's not who he was. That's never who he was.

man, where did that generation of men go? Yeah, you can fill a book on the flawed things they did that were a part of their time. But for the most part they were wealthy, intelligent, and with some sense of duty to their fellow man and country.

It's what happens when you grow up reading John Locke instead of ayn rand.
