Thread: Election Thread 2016

  1. Because there's one guy who does some things i really disagree with and there's one guy who i hate with my heart.

    Jon Huntsman 2016.
    Donk

  2. Paul Ryan is the worst. If you want undeniable proof of the terrible rot in DC, look at how he is lauded for pushing policies that would make tens of millions of people outside the DC cocktail party circuit suffer.

I don't know why Romney picked him. The type of people who like Paul Ryan already would have voted for Romney anyway. Romney has been courting those types pretty hard and I see no daylight between Romney and Ryan already. I guess Christie and Rubio were afraid of being branded losers.

Obama's not a miracle worker. You need 60 votes to pass legislation. Even when the Democrats had 60 votes in their caucus, there were still anywhere from 3-7 people who sided with the Republicans on anything of substance. Ben Nelson, Mary Landrieu, Joseph Lieberman, Evan Bayh, etc.

If Biden's smart there won't be Vice Presidential debates this year. He had enough trouble with Sarah Palin.

edit: I realized after posting that the beginning of this is so outlandish that the rest doesn't matter. Let me try again:

If Biden is slightly less of an idiot than I think he is...

    Much better.

    Mission accomplished?

    God damn it. Fixed.

  6. Biden hacked Yoshi's account?

And Diff, where was Obama stumping for policy chance non-election season? Also NDAA 2012 & SOPA? He put all his eggs in the healthcare basket which is still being judged.

  7. I didn't mean to imply that Obama is blameless in all this. I was just saying that his power in domestic matters is limited.

In general you're right. Obama should have to run against his record, but the right is so fucking shitty (and getting worse) that he won't have to. In 2009 and 2010, instead of people taking him to task on his policies regarding banks, they were shaking their heads at all the prominent Republicans asking for his birth certificate.

The Ryan budget is so fucking insane and extreme that people literally do not believe Mitt Romney when he says he would try to get it passed as President. Every part of it is so crazily unpopular in this country. Yet the guy who wrote it is Romney's VP pick.

NDAA would have passed regardless of Obama. A veto on this would have been pointless waste of time and resources and political goodwill for every one involved.

  9. Yeah the Ryan Budget. Jesus! I'm a libertarian, but I guess I'm a centrist libertarian who just wants to see like broad 10-20% spending cuts and the But tax cuts expire, not a 50% cut on discretionary spending!! And doing away with taxes on overseas corporate profit. I'm sure there's more but those two made me tell Ryan to fuck off.

  10. The thing with the Ryan budget... it wouldn't even lower the deficit. All independent analyses of the budget say that it would actually raise the deficit. The budget is just a way to cut taxes on rich people while making the poor and middle class pay for it. It's pure top-down class warfare. Like I said, people polled don't even believe Romney when he says he wants to pass it. It's that extremist.

I wish more people would take politicians at their word. Bush got away with a lot of stuff in his campaigns because people waved off the stuff he said or did by claiming he would be more "moderate" in office.
