    I downloaded Pinball Arcade on the iPhone (I'm sure everyone figured I would be the first on the forum to do so).

    As expected, it's pretty much an exact replica of the console version with a few more options.

    One odd caveat: you'd think that pinball machines being "vertical" as the player sees it, it would be best played with the iphone in portrait orientation, but I found it awkward due to your fingers having to be so close together at the bottom of the screen. I found it hard to aim. Landscape mode was much easier to play, although there's less screen real estate.

    I got this recently too, and I love it, aside from Ripley's Believe it or Not. I found the physics to be an improvement over Williams PHOF. Ball speed seems to have been improved. Black Hole is a huge improvement over its PS2 Gottlieb PHOF counterpart. I receommend holding off on Ripley's, unless you have an iPhone 4 S or iPad 2. It's very unstable on iPad 1 and, from what I read on The Pinball Arcade Facebook page, it sounds like iPod Touch 4 and iPhone 4 have the same issues. The ball physics often freak out on Ripley's Believe it or Not and the framerate seems unstable, as well.

    I like Pinball Arcade, not sure about the other tables, but it looks and plays great.

    This may not be the same thing, but on the PinMAME project, you needed a pretty beefy CPU to play some of the newer Stern tables, as the sound hardware is resource intensive. I haven't used PinMAME in ages, and I'm not sure Pinball Arcade is running into the same emulation problems with the Stern Whitestar board, but there could be correlation. A lot of the PinMAME coders got around that by converting all the sounds to samples, but those sounded horrible.
