I got FPS'd out about 13 years ago with Doom for PSOne.
You don't have to be smart; you don't have to know the facts, you just have to be confident.

I like to shoot things and see people/monster die by headshots.
I see a ton of great looking, non-FPS coming so even if I was sick of the genre, I wouldn't be worried.Originally Posted by Schlep

Yeah, there are certainly some great looking non-FPS games coming out, but I think calling it a ton is a stretch. I'm welcome to being surprised, though.
Yeah. Mirror's Edge is a case where it's a first person game that isn't totally an FPS but you don't really feel like calling it something else. L4D Versus is awesome, and I'm loving Crysis and looking forward to starting Fallout 3 and Crysis Warhead.I'm liking Mirror's Edge! And Left4Dead is super rad! Oh oh and Fallout 3 too! So I guess I'm not FPS'd out.
Maybe you need to stick with good games?
Hell, between Quake Live and UT3, I'm right back into even the traditional DM games.
Generally like the genre, played a HELL of a lot of Quake III. "Black" was the game that kind of knocked me off the genre. It was terrrrrrible. Like a compeltely neutered Soldier of Fortune.
Since then, Half Life 2 was a big "meh", the Unreals continue to be second-stringers on all counts, and the most interesting things coming out of the genre seem to be variations on the theme, like Portal or Mirror's Edge.
Left 4 Dead is fucking cool, however.
I still enjoy FPS games even if I've played a thousand of them and many have been similar. But it all comes back to the one that I can still play to this day and have as much fun with as I did in 1999: Counter Strike. Shit is gold.
