I don't find anything awful about Whomp 'Em as it controls and looks fine but aside from the Native Indian theme (the Japanese version is Asian themed BTW) it doesn't really stand out either. It's merely decent.

And a sequel to a game that is basically a strange conversion of Wonder Boy in Monster Land.

There is an awful bar with Twin Eagle II near the carry out beer section nearby.
I'll have to go up and drop a few quarters in that sucker this weekend.

    Jaleco and Seta
    who's next, Natsume?
edit: no, I guess Natsume is doing fine milking Harvest Moon for all it's worth.
they should get Ancient to do a next gen console update to the VATLVA/Car Battler Joe series.
    yeah, that.

Legend of the River King, Harvest Moon, Pocky & Rocky, and Wild Guns were better than anything Jaleco or Seta did. Well, possibly barring Bases Loaded.

Musya = Jorudan. Kendo Rage = Affect.

    Also by Jorudan.

Since I can't read Japanese at all without an online translator, I don't quite understand the lineage completely, but there was a computer RPG called Digan no Maseki released in 1988 by Artec ("Artec" and "Jorudan" can actually be found in the SFC Gdleen ROM) that was based on Gdleen by author Yuto Ramon, but it looks like the Gdleen books came out in 1989. There was also a Gdleen OAV in 1990.

I remember all the Final Fight clones like most everyone else does.

Oh, absolutely. I wasn't making a commentary on quality.
just trying to think of another obscure, decades-old Japanese publisher.

    Koei?

  9. SETA was winding down for some time.

Most interesting thing about them was their subsidiary Ikusabune, which did development work on seemingly all of GameArts best stuff, from Lunar to Grandia to Silpheed. Also they made Gungrave OD, which was the only game they got a proper developer credit on (though they sometimes got a mention in the staff roll).

Omega Five is by Natsume, and that came out just over a year ago. There are probably other things coming up after Harvest Moon on 360/PS3. We need a Wild Guns 2.

Twin Eagle II is decent. This one has a 3rd button to drop Xevious style bombs on ground targets. Buildings go down in chain reactions, and there's a lot of radio voiceover chatter. "BINGO!"

    R.I.P. to Seta.

    Finished in 2021: 8 games (PC: 4, PS4: 2, PS3: 1, X1: 1)
