That statement is about being able to openly fight to keep your freedom. It wasn't about "winning".
Yes exactly. In a free and open society there is always a risk someone will abuse the right. That's the price you, me and everyone else pays for living so openly and so free at all times. It's also a risk most would love to have the luxury of (and fought to attain for, in some circumstances, centuries).

It's actually a shitty amendment and almost certainly the worst written of the original 10. It was also written at a time when people have flintlock muskets or whatever the fuck that couldn't be used to mow down two dozen people in ten minutes.
This post needs a bald eagle crying to really bring the cartoonish point home. You don't even live here, so no, it's not a price you're paying. Canada's gun violence is extremely minimal.
