Honestly, I can't believe this is still a fucking debate. How many Americans honestly think they need to be able to defend the country from invasion these days? And how many Americans really think they need to protect themselves from tyrannical oppression these days?

It's an amendment. So amend it again. Update it. Or just accept that every six weeks some crazy fuck is going to kill children with a gun bought via one loophole and bullets bought with another.

That statement is about being able to openly fight to keep your freedom. It wasn't about "winning".

Yes exactly. In a free and open society there is always a risk someone will abuse the right. That's the price you, me and everyone else pays for living so openly and so free at all times. It's also a risk most would love to have the luxury of (and fought to attain for, in some circumstances, centuries).

It's actually a shitty amendment and almost certainly the worst written of the original 10. It was also written at a time when people have flintlock muskets or whatever the fuck that couldn't be used to mow down two dozen people in ten minutes.

This post needs a bald eagle crying to really bring the cartoonish point home. You don't even live here, so no, it's not a price you're paying. Canada's gun violence is extremely minimal.
