Thread: The Obama Presidency

What people fail to see is that Bush deposed a DICTATOR, in a country where his sons raped innocent women. People were not able to freely vote or speak their mind, etc. Yet if Bush didn't have the balls to invade Iraq those people wouldn't have the rights that they have today. WMDs were found, they might not have been as bad as he said they were though, but none the less he brought Democracy to a country that didn't have it. And don't tell me the Iraqis didn't want it, within minutes of Saddam being captured they had their crappy 1980s MJ tapes blasting on their ghetto blasters dancing in the street.

The youth program that Obama wants is scary. Ever seen a North Korean child chanting their praise for their Dear leader? That's some fun shit...

Also the inauguration, people bitched on how much was spent for Bush's second inaug but when their lord and savior Barack was more expensive they were magically quite. Also its interesting how so few can get out of New Orleans with a few days notice but 2 million can pile into D.C. in one day.

Problem is a lot of people get their opinion from sources that have no fucking clue as to what they are talking about, just some asshat repeating what they heard like a fucking parrot.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who found it in poor taste to hold a Super-Bowl-halftime-show-inaugural when the economy's as shitty as it is.

You actually believe this? If it's so vital that we topple evil dictators and bring democracy to those countries who never asked us for it, why did we let a dictator retire after 50 years, only 90 miles off our own shores? How come Saddam was the only one we invaded and toppled? Ah, that's right. No exploitable natural resources (read: oil). The whole "spreading democracy" shtick is a crock of shit and was only the banner toughted in Iraq when the two before it (WMDs & link to Al-Qaeda) were exposed as lies.

You can't honestly expect to have any credibility while shoving your own vestiges of colonialism behind the couch whenever someone looks your way. If the US wants to spread liberty and self-determination, we should start in our own back yard.

  3. The real issue isn't that we're bailing any one out really but that our Feds are doing it the way Feds do things best which is well, half assed. We're hoping that if we ejaculate enough money in the recession cooch a little baby of economic recover will come out in a few months.

The real tragedy is that instead of being up front, honest, and tough as hell on the companies getting the bail out many politicians are using this as a time to pork the shit outta everything. Literally.

I don't think now is a very good time to judge Obama because he only has 3 options and 1 of them is FAR too big of a gamble (do nothing), half ass it (the safe albeit dickless way) or go apeshit with hand outs (equally as risky as doing nothing). Odds are he (or at least the media and Obama fanatics) accidentally painted himself into a corner, everyone thought he was going to go Jesus on us, slap the economy in the forehead, proclaim it was healed and then fly off to save Metropolis and Gotham at the same time. He promised us change but no one sought to point out he really has few clothes on.

Shit, if it wasn't for the Palin suicide coin toss McCain might have had it in the bag. I don't think McCain would be doing much if any better but at least he (or his followers/panderers) never promised us miracles.

Russia couldn't win in Afghanistan because the United States felt that the anti-Communist fundamentalist Muslims needed some Stinger Anti-Air missiles. Russia was doing quite well before that. I understand the mindset at the time because Communism was the ultimate evil but I'd much rather live in a Communist world than a Islamic Fundamentalist world.

When we bump up the troops and increase combat operations there will be casualties but America will do just fine. The only war people consider us "losing" is Vietnam (for the most part I guess) and that all could have been avoided if we just would've landed our Marines in North Vietnam instead of placing them along the border.

Yeah, but Russia had a lot less moral hang ups than we do. Our military gets chastised by our media and citizens when it causes too much collateral damage. The Soviets controlled the media, so they could send whatever message they wanted home.

A big obstacle the Soviets faced was their military make-up. Their inability to fight with unconventional tactics as well as the political aspect of their military operations hampered their ability to respond to threats that their military was not built to counter. In the 1970's and parts of the 80's, they may well have been able to defeat NATO in an open (and non-nuclear) conflict but had huge problems when dealing with a guerilla war in Afghanistan.

American Stinger missiles also had a huge impact for the Russians. Before the Afghan guerillas had anti-air missiles, the Soviet helicopters were terribly feared.

McCain would probably be doing the exact same thing that Obama is doing right now.

  8. I like Obama's approach towards Afghanistan and Pakistan. We have taken our focus off this for far too long. Put an end to that shit now.

So far I like Barack's foreign policy and hate his economic policy. If he does not sink us financially, perhaps we have a chance.

  10. This tea bagging is hilarious.
