Two million people is a lot, but the question is can the gubment do everything we ask it to do with less people? I don't think that is such an easy question.
I think it's a fair question. And, as you know, we differ significantly on whet we would ask it to do. Let's look at one example though. If we had a tax code that wasn't written by drunken monkeys, how much of the IRS could we cut or redeploy to do something that people actually want?

It is an easy question. The answer is "yes." The government is incredibly inefficient, employs way too many people, and allows those people to exploit the hilarious loopholes inherent in every govt job. Example: If I were to work for, say, the Census Bureau I would go out on a job, sleep in my car, make sure to juice the amount of miles I reported, and hand in a stack of empty forms at the end of the day that no one ever looked at. If I were to work for the Census Bureau, I probably would have run this game for six months or so until my contract was up. If.

Every big organization is incredibly inefficient.
Pretty much.
A lot of employees are lazy assholes too. Many don't want the place they work to be efficient. They don't want to do something for all 9 hours of the work day
