It's not about greed. It's a holy war.
Basic human greed.

Probably eat some awesome food. Find a hot bitch to marry/fuck. Go see their families.
I don't know. If I was in a dark fucking hole for a long long time, getting my ass back in that hole, or dead, would not be at the top of my list.
To say otherwise is to question why we even have prisons. Why do we put people in prison under the assumption that the punishment will change their behavior but not assume that of people coming out of G.Bay?
What do you really want us to do Yoshi? Put every criminal of the state in a brutal prison and leave them there to rot until they die? I think that has been tried before...
And let's say you're right and they still kill 99% of the people they would have killed normally and only ransom 1%. Wouldn't you be happy to be part of the 1%?
More people living is generally a good thing.
Your value system and theirs are completely different.
You're seriously comparing some asshat who stole a car to a guy who planned a bombing or the like? I don't think aren is a threat to national security. To say otherwise is to question why we even have prisons. See, this is the problem Republicans are having with this issue. It's a war only when it's convenient to their argument. Weren't Republicans the ones saying that the prisoners in Gitmo shouldn't be tried normally because they were enemy combatants? All of a sudden they're not? Make up your mind. The Taliban, unlike the Jihad in Iran Contra, didn't take a hostage. Bergdahl is a soldier who was fighting a war and was captured and held as a POW. Whether or not he's a traitor is something to be determined once he's back and is put on trial.
