Obama signed the order for secret American detainment camps to be closed, but i don't think those are the ones we really need to worry about. WHY DOES NO ONE BRING THAT UP?
You mean the whole we ship you the prisoners from Guantanamo to Australia and we get in return "something". Yeah its been brought up. On Fox.

Yeah, that's assuming they have jobs. That's something Obama said he'd accomplish!
I'm more pissed at the Credit Card changes he wanted ... and got. But the bill the whole concealed arms thing was attached too doesn't help matters at all.

Just like the Founding Fathers wanted.

  2. The credit card companies are not innocent in this entire debacle. They are as bad as banks who gave out high interest loans to people they knew couldn't afford it just to sell better looking securities.

That's not what i was talking about. I'm talking about suspected terrars and people who just look like terrars getting their shit beat in mystery camps. See: Arar vs. Ashcroft.
And i don't know if the "On Fox" thing is serious or not. What does anyone with sense have to say about this? Magical fairy butts? Oh ha ha, we're not fucking England? I don't even know what the hell hypothetical situation you're talking about.

Oh fr rill. In all honesty, credit card companies have the nation by the dick.
Do you actually know what the changes are?
The issue here isn't all lazy people being irresponsible, it's also that companies are raising rates without reason, stacking secret charges, and being general butt holes.
Do you have a credit card? Do you pay it off every month or do you just have to float because you're making less than you used to? Have you gotten a ridiculous rate increase that wasn't warranted? Do you ever overdraft and wonder why they don't just block the charge instead of *wink* charging you $35 and sparing you the embarrassment of a declined card?
The arguments from the credit card companies are borderline retarded. "We won't be able to screen as well", "We won't be as competitive" No shit that you won't be able to make as much money, but for hell if you're not going to offer as much credit.
Why is there as much credit as there is, anyway? Because prices on certain goods are so high that you have to use credit because no one with a regular income can afford these items without saving for years? Why do they get higher, because people can use a magic card and just pay for them for years instead? What is this, indentured servitude? IT IS. WAKE UP AMURICA!
    Donk

Sure, the banks and credit card companies did bad but the people who fell into the trap are the ones most responsible. I'd like to see them held accountable in some way or another but that will never happen.

  7. It's not that simple. Yes, there are people who run up stupidly high bills and default themselves into oblivion, but there are also the people who don't and are getting rate increases anyway. We can't all declare the recession an act of God, as that successful man Donald Trump did, and default on our $40 million loans and then count on our perceived successfullness to float us onto our own television show.
This is capitalism, people deserve to make money at the expense of others, right? What happens when people get fed up and either can't pay, or realize that it won't be worth it for the company to pay collections to come get the money you don't have? They start breaking fingers? What happens when more and more people default to the point where it actually starts hurting credit companies? If you liquidated everything you owned, would it really add up to how much you paid for it? They could start garnishing your wages, but that takes a court order, and is it worth it to go after someone who doesn't owe more than a few thousand?
This isn't a handout, as anyone who actually follows what's happening, anyone who has enough sense to read a credit card contract could tell you, it's a measure to stop things from getting stupider than they already are.

  8. Let me go to someone who makes shit money and has little education and offer them this nice line of credit. Surely they know they can't afford it so they will say no. What? They want it? YES!

Please. We've all picked on the less educated before. Let's not try to be nice about it now.

As long as these companies can get away with socializing the cost of catastrophe they're not going to stop.

There are no rules, only consequences.

  10. Credit card companies have long been untrustworthy crooks, and it's pretty disgusting that some of you are against some form of regulation there. If you treat a credit card like extra cash they'll fuck you over, if you make a mistake they'll fuck you over, if you do things perfectly they'll make it so next time you make a mistake, they fuck you over.
