What reason would any person need a machine gun for in day to day life? I'm so sick of the "just because I can" mentality that's rampant in this country. Lawyers don't help the issue either with people suing for the most absurd of things "just because they can."

If someone wants to do something in America they should be allowed to within reason. Government staying out of individual affairs was the ENTIRE REASON your country was founded. If you're just going to trade one task master for another then why revolt in the first place? The issue here is what constitutes reasonable, which is a subjective line of thinking (but not really, if you're honest). Being able to own a hand gun, or a rifle seems reasonable to me. Being able to own a handheld killing machine doesn't, really.

I think the real issue and irksome nature behind the healthcare bill is just that - it hitches everyone to payments. Some people, like Yoshi, do not want to pay a monthly tax for healthcare. He says there is enough money in government to do it already if you cut useless programs (and Ramon says if you stop supporting Israel). Maybe they're right. I don't know.

I can't believe how many freedoms have gone out the window with nary a peep from people in the past decade. To me neither Bush or Obama are worthwhile presidents because the Patriot act and the foundations of the American Constitution have been violated. Why are you fighting wars for freedoms you're not even granted anymore? The irony here is that the terrorists that attacked America with a couple of airplanes really did end up cracking the foundation. Not because of the attack, but because of the response to the attack by the government itself. Reminds me of Vietnam and how the IRA boasted they won by outlasting American public resolve after Nixon left office (which was sort of true). We live in interesting times.

Israel is a big funnel of money from the U.S., costing us billions in wars all because we support them. Now they're doing whatever the fuck they want to the Palestinians and forcing, forcing, those in the Gaza strip into poverty.

Sure, but not all entitlements are welcome. I don't want to subsidize mono-cultured corn so McDonald's can keep offering their dollar menu. A taxpayer should be able to complain about what he's funding.

People were mad at Obama for not stopping and talking to the people and instead meeting with the technicians and engineers about what to do about the mess. Except he had already met with them the visit before.
