No it does not mean "get rid of crap I don't like". It means stop making the tax payer liable for social programs. You can have all the social programs you want if they are independently funded businesses. If they aren't able to get enough funding because people don't care / are poorly run then they go by the wayside. That is a capitalistic market. Some social programs should remain as a little bit of a safety net to the downtrodden. Which ones and why are up for debate.

This is, of course, not how things are.

Correct. It is fine, in my eyes, to have government inspectors and third parties go in and make sure everything is hunky dory when environmental disaster is the worst case scenario for something like this. "De-regulation" can only lead to disaster and / or complacence. The one thing about this is that BP may have actually dug in to a strata, which makes clogging the hole and drilling more relief wells all the more dangerous.

If the relief wells rupture the strata an entire batholith could rupture releasing deep crust chemicals in to the gulf, essentially polluting the Gulf for 10+ years. The EPA also released initial estimates for the oil spill at 2.9 million barrels (may have been gallons, I couldn't hear) a day. Not the original BP estimate of 50,000. What a clusterfuck.

But through all of this allowing BP to drill a deep sea well was not a poor decisions by Obama. If I ran government things that could have such far reaching consequences should have to be underwritten by 2 or 3 insurance companies. That way if shit goes south there's a wide cushion to help burden the pay out. If BP goes belly-up the tax payers may have to foot the bill.

    More socialized losses. Total bullshit.

By making welfare one of the social programs I was talking about? How does one make cancer research profitable? There are NPO business strategies to help raise money for everything. There's a bike ride for cancer happening in Toronto RIGHT NOW raising an estimated 3.6 million dollars over the course of 2 days.

They made jails profitable. They can find a way.

No matter how many pictures of oil covered animals you post, I won't say that American tax dollars should pay for the cleanup.

  5. Where the fuck is Red Adair, that's all I want to know.

I didn't think it would. You have a history of being a stupid selfish ass. I don't expect that to change now.

  7. Why the fuck should american tax dollars pay for it? Because BP fucked up closest to one of our coasts? That's beyond any rational thought.

The company that caused this, British Petroleum, posted 6 billion in profit last quarter.

Apparently the deep sea gusher is the greatest force of pressure ever recorded by modern science. No idea if that's true or just rhetoric.
