This economy was built on the middle class. Even China knows that. If you don't make them the priority and not the elite, the elite will be the Kings of Shit.
Maybe China will tell the Democrats, because they're not focused on the middle class. The middle class doesn't benefit at all from social programs, and to your point, pays a larger portion of their needed income to fund them.

Please don't get me wrong. I am only Republican because nothing more fiscally conservative exists in a realistically supportable manner. They are perhaps even the lesser of two evils.

How would you know? The democrats couldn't pass shit because Washington's been in gridlock for two years thanks to a bunch of grandstanding fucks who don't care about their constituents.

Now we've cemented the gridlock position for at least two more and no one can get anything done. Abandon all hope.

Scroll up and read Drew's excellent post so I don't have to retype half of it.

As a constituent, I'd like to point out that having the Democrats not get shit done despite controlling everything was complete success for my elected officials.

  5. But he's wrong. He's wrong that a single ideology had "control," and even a cursory examination of ANY function of federal government would reveal this to be the case.

Just because democrats have a majority doesn't mean liberals have a majority, or even that people willing to support Obama have a majority. All I've seen is deadlock for two years. An attempt to pass healthcare resulted in a bill that largely resembled the compromise proposed by republicans at the onset of the debate, and then vilified as the end of democracy by the very same people at the end.

It's not this binary red/blue thing. We haven't really seen democrats in control because there are a lot more swing democrats than swing republicans and that ends up being a real factor in a system that works on a yea or nay vote. That's just a fact.

Obama was elected with a mandate, one that should have allowed him to enact his policies. It's fucking ridiculous that crybaby losers decided that it didn't matter how much of the vote he won - he wasn't allowed to do shit.

You should probably blame the Democratic leadership then for not getting their troops to line up. The GOP leadership did what their voters wanted them to do, which is why they weren't shown the door in record numbers yesterday.

What the fuck does that even mean? And I thought you were against expansion of the powers of the Oval Office? Or was that only while Bush was in it.

Even though Bush won, the loser Democrats realized it was the will of the country and let him enact his disastrous policies. On the other hand, Republicans filibustered every thing they could.

Believe me, this is one area in which I'm very disappointed with Obama. His pandering, even prostrating to the center has made him completely ineffective. Yet to hear fox news you'd think he passed a bill for mandatory abortions on the taxpayer dime.

What, plug their ears and scream "NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NOT LISTENING?" If you talk to people most see congress as ineffective and broken, and I don't really see how you could possibly see voting as a block against the other party 100% of the time as an effective method of governance.

Now it certainly is a way to make the other party look bad and win votes, but I can't see it as anything other than self-interested.

The fact that there's a huge republican win TWO YEARS after a huge democratic win shows that people have lost faith in both parties and are frustrated with the whole system, NOT that they're sure the most recent winners are correct. Trying to shut down the government in order to win votes is one of the reasons why.
