  1. I think you need some Jesus in your life, YAWA.
I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.

  2. I have me some Jesus in my life.

He believes the planet is 4.5 Billion years old and that dinosaurs at some point walked on it.

But he also lives in the projects and deals coke for a living, so...

Buying "company cars" for the government adds a hell of a lot more unneeded expense than it does temporary jobs. And a rail system from SoCal to Vegas is not exactly the infrastructure update that the US needs. These bills are a kin to some drunk winning the lotto and seeing just how stupid he can be with the money. Except in this case, the drunk isn't even spending his own money.

I also like the cries of "they're anti-science", when the Democrats continually try to cut NASA back.

edit: And please go read Gooch's post about the governmental source of the banking crisis again. I've been saying it since October, but maybe you'll listen to him.

Creationists are using the term Intelligent Design to try to get something that by the very definition of the term does not constitute a science, taught in a science classroom.

Scientists are trying to keep it out of the science classroom by pointing out that it is a belief system, and not a science, as it is supported by little to zero scientific data.

The argument scientists are using is that it was never science. It is the same Creationism from the 80's repackaged with "pretty lights" and "fancy terms" but still has as little scientific data to support it being taught as it had back in the 80's when it was initially rejected.
All this is true and it more or less goes without saying, but the fact is that they're trying to leverage themselves by pointing out "holes" in our theory that aren't holes at all.

For example, they will, like trained apes, all say in unison "We believe in microevolution (like dog breeding) but evolutionary science can't explain "macroevolution" (how one species can become another species). Except, of course it can, has, and man-made species are well documented. Domestic sheep, for example, are not even able to reproduce well with the Mouflons from which they were initially bred. They're a distinct species created solely by humans. Speciation is not a mystery to scientists.

Or they say what Squall did about how the big bang can't explain what happened "before" or things like that. They yell questions for which there are very good answers but then shout "There is no answer but God!" over top of them.

Basically, it's a God of the Gaps phenomenon, and as those gaps close, people are trying desperately to reinforce them.

This is not even an argument when your future 2012 candidate has the nerve to scoff at, of all things, "Volcano Monitoring," as if it is a needless expense to monitor potential eruptions on U.S. soil. He does this of course right after he passes a bill approving ID as a valid scientific theory. The dude is a biologist for Christ sake, he should at least be pretending not to be anti-science.

And for the record, everyone has cut NASA's budget. I think it might have something to do with their complete lack of focus about where it wanted to go in the 80's and 90's, horrific leadership, and absolutely zero ambition to replace the shuttle program with something designed to get us beyond low earth orbit. NASA has been polarized by internal politics for years, and do not deserve money until they decide very firmly what they want to do and how they want to do it.
