O’s missing word: ‘terror’

That was a perfectly fine speech Barack Obama gave at the United Nations yesterday. Perfectly fine, except that he has been president for the last four years.

Perfectly fine, except that terrorists murdered our ambassador in Libya on the 11th anniversary of 9/11. And perfectly fine, except that the head of al Qaeda released a videotape urging that murder and others during what he called a time of “American weakness.”

Mr. President: The video didn’t do it. Terrorists did. Say it, for God’s sake!

Facts, bloody facts, take all the shine off Obama’s speech. His teleprompted rhetoric no longer inspires because reality keeps interrupting the swoon.

Doc, that probably fits better in the election thread, but I will say that there is little there with which I disagree. I am reading the Stanford/NYU report on drone attacks and it is reinforcing what I already knew.

I also read the Post article you linked, in addition to the transcript of the president's U.N. speech. It is disheartening that the president continues to talk on and on about the YouTube video as if that was the main problem in the Mideast. But this is the same guy that pretended on The Late Show that he didn't know the amount of the national debt.

I have a huge problem with the kill list and the way the drone program is being run. Obama famously started that if he had a son, the son would look like Trayvon Martin. Well, how close would his son look to Abdulrahman al-Awaki, a sixteen year-old American who was killed by a drone? And what about the other children and innocents killed? Were they all justifiable casualties in the war on terror, all right to kill after being judged guilty/disposable by our closed-room executives?

Instead of the promised government transparency, we got a strengthening of the star chamber.

The ambassador was also sodomized, Al Qaeda might have been involved, and the Libyan president warned the Gov't days prior (more).

On Sunday, Libyan President Mohammed el-Megarif contended foreign militants had been plotting the attack for months and timed it for Tuesday's 9/11 anniversary.
