The costs will come from somewhere because the government is pushing pretty hard for it and it will get its way in the end. It is coming, it is only a matter of when and who will pay for it and how.

Either the government develops it and funds it and it comes out of your taxes or you fund it directly when you go to the doctor. Because someone is going to pay for the software to file insurance and digitize charts. And someone is going to pay for the staff to file both, learn how to file both on a computer and keep track of it.

At least with the government funding it, costs can potentially be driven down (ignoring politicians giving the software projects to over paid assholes in their home state).

I mean seriously, what sounds more expensive to you, letting a bunch of little entrepreneurial doctors, clinics and big hospitals all come up with their own system and buying different software packages and paying for training and new staff, or paying for a unified effort? One software package, one method to learn, and staff held to one unified standard?

You understand stream lining as well as the next person, you have to admit this would ultimately be cheaper.

It would also make care providers more keen on a public options. One of the biggest things that pisses them off is just how much of the costs they are asked to foot. In one hand you ask them to take less for their services, in the next you ask them to pay for the staff to file the claims, keep up with the DRG, training, filing software, etc. "here, take less money and do more work"

And who do you think pays for that more work? You and the privately insured.

Also, a unifide system would help catch more healthcare fraud by the kind of poor you hate. Many 'welfare queens' are really just defrauding the system. One way they can do this is by going to multiple doctors for something like back pain, get pain killers and then sell the surplus. This is how these people really pay for big expensive cars. My dad already uses what unified systems are available to catch these people and refuses care. Each person he catches is one more person that YOU are not paying to help commit fraud.

I forget which, but either Tennessee or Alabama won't share their system with doctors out of state. Just think of how many more people he could catch and how much more of your money he could protect if the system was standardized ad unified.

yes, but cost savings as they are now is just another side of the coin. You know, where people are deprived of care they need because their insurance thinks it is a waste and not pay for it?

Also, I still think if anyone deserves to have money in our society, it is healthcare professionals. Its really sad that some CEO that adds no worth to our lives makes 10x more than the people that will help keep us alive when we are old.

How would you know? The current system is pretty much the antithesis of capitalism. There is essentially no competition, for example. Plus, larger government is what a fascist state is all about. If we get there, neither one of us will care what flavor it is, because it will be awful. Finally, every time you flip a game, you're participating in capitalism. Move to a commune and grow your own lettuce if you think that's a viable alternative.

Feel free to provide some complete examples of this. And when I say complete, I mean the entire market, including any taxes increased to fund it and the like and any collateral damage.

Yoshi would have been that rich mother fucker in the South around the time of the civil war, keeping out public schools because it is so much cheaper for him, to ship i tutors from France and England.

  6. WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU EVEN TALKING ABOUT.

please explain to me how having many people develop separate software packages is cheaper than one person developing one?

The only thing that could make it cost more is if some jackass senator intentionally gets the project for a company in his home state and funnels tons of money to it to make himself look good to his constituents.

But you should be ok with that since that is how most new military projects are these days.

Part of the reason we had a civil war was that many southern states didn't have public education and the rich worked to keep it that way because they didn't want to pay for it.

Its really easy to get a group of people to fight for dumb shit when you've worked to keep them stupid.

If Yoshi was there, he'd been fighting to keep out public education under the guise that is cheaper to not have it.

Sorry, I meant unchecked capitalism. All things in moderation.

I don't think the health industry can become purely capitalistic. Like, without government force, caregivers will probably not be able to make their pricing easy to understand and transparent.

For capitalism to work, people have to have some kind of idea of what the prices and quality are for each option.
