Yeah, ok.
Handguns are more dangerous btw.
I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.
Yeah, ok.
Advocate lives on the first Halo.
I think he may be confusing accidental gun deaths and the ability to go on a murder spree which is what's being targeted.
Clearly.
It's an awful post without any elaboration. Obviously concealment matters and blah blah blah what is "dangerous" kill me please.
That's pretty much it.
Well, the first fully autos date back as far as 1718. And people figure the assault weapon ban would slippery slope ban all the protected full autos made before 1986.
Secondly, assault rifle is a very poorly defined term. It would be like someone saying they only want to ban pot made in the west. How far west is west? It really isn't concrete and could easily be used for goal post moving later. (a lot of people don't know this, because as said before, they discard everything said by the other side.)
And it wouldn't fix the problem causing the ban. Most gun deaths are caused by inner city males between the ages of 14-30, with hand guns.
Now think of the gun hobbyist we talked about earlier. You state the problem, we all agree that it is a problem. Then you state a quick fix that will have almost zero impact on the problem, BUT would take away something he owns or wants to own.
Why would he be for that?
And why have people latched on to the assault weapon ban? Selfishness. Because a handful of (white) children being shot makes them feel bad. Because they can't ignore that issue like they ignore all the young men who shoot each other every year.

No, because the overall value to society:
kids don't die as often in a spree > some guy that wants to collect dumb shit
I didn't say it was the root of the problem. I too worry that some people think it is and they think this is the cure-all.
To you maybe. That is less obvious to the collector. 39-50% of Americans own a gun. I can't say with confidence that 5-15 kids are worth oppressing the wants of 39-50% of people.
And if we are to start doing that kind of stuff, how many of you are going to join me an Josh's "ban SUVs" party? 'We' know with almost certainity that banning SUVs would save lives and lower gas prices. We know this. And no one needs one. They're almost entirely a luxury product.
Ban SUVs, save lives today. Nothing will be lost except rich people and people who want to think they're rich not getting the same selection on the car lot.
