probably because most adults, if they were honest with their healthcare provider, could be classified with some form of mental illness. Most with at least depression or adult ADD.

So they are mad because they probably shouldn't have a gun and wouldn't be be able to get one. Man, I feel bad for them.

But how many lives are worth liberty?

I don't get this argument, as guns are not being outlawed. Not everyone should be allowed to own a gun. The safety of me, my friends and family are way more important to me than some crazy idiot who feels it his right to own a gun.

Right. How do we get this to show up on a mental health evaluation? And how do we get the people who know how to lie on one?

In many cases don't people usually come out and say there were some pretty obvious signs? And of course there are going to be people who are going to be able to bypass the system. Nothing is perfect, but why does it even matter when if you actually deserve and are mentally stable to own a gun, it probably will not even effect you?

And why are we trying to make legislation that might impact about 30-46% of the US population to save a handful of lives while still avoiding the issues that cause the majority of gun violence in the US?

Can you imagine how much this looks like madness to anyone that sees the whole picture? All this shit to save 5 to 12 lives and impacting a little less than half the population while doing almost nothing about the causes of the other 9000+ gun related murders we have each year?

If you can think of any truly effective legislation that can pass this Congress, let me know.

Unfortunately we aren't there and will not be there for a while, if ever. In the meantime, schools and movie theaters become death traps.
