    People getting the data they want, then looking no further is part of the problem in the gun debate.
    The context you can't get through your thick goddamn skull is that every criminal lashing out at someone during their criminal act doesn't necessarily do so with murderous intent. The immediate instinct is to incapacitate and run.

    If they shoot someone, it's pretty likely that this act turns into a death. With a blunt object or a knife, the mortality rate is much lower.

    Sticking around for a few dozen whacks while the victim howls in pain tend to hurt the chances of a clean getaway, so no, they won't tend to hover around to "make sure the job's done" with melee weapons and found objects. Victim hits the floor, they split.

    Yep voter fraud by republican hired companies, not by individuals who go to vote which is what all of this voter I'd legislation is targeting. The percentage of in person voter fraud is statistically nonexistent. These so called voter fraud bills are blatantly obvious attempts to supress minority votes. Stop pretending otherwise

    That is one way to look at it. Or you could say that I'm more informed about it because it affects things I care about while everyone else is making reactionary 'common sense' comments and don't want to be told their 'feelings' are wrong.

    We're talking about a board that throws the word 'black market' around like it is a place. When told specifically how most illegal gun sales are made, they just ignore it and go back to wanting something that would have zero impact on preventing the thing they hate so much.

    I don't have time to squabble and worry about random mass killings. Those are going to always happen. What I'm more worried about is 1. keeping our rights and 2. lowering those other 9000+ gun related murders each year.

    There are a lot of things that could be done to lower that bigger number

    1. End the war on drugs. Or change it in such a way that makes drugs less rare, driving the demand and price down. A lot of gun related deaths are caused in that drug war.
    2. Decouple school budgets from local property tax. This is just a sneaky way to keep the stupid, stupid. Disenfranchised areas need better schools and better education. These students need to feel like someone cares about them, hopefully showing them that there is more to life than a life of bullets and no fucks.
    3. Add one vocational class to every grade starting as soon as students learn how to write paragraphs and fractions. This would help build real skills and self esteem. By high school they would have a wealth of job options much better than fast food or 'hustle'n the streets'
    4. Build a big brother like mentor system into our schools. Give skilled adults who volunteer to help students a tax credit for the time they put in.
    5. If there is something more that can be done to teach kids about sex and prevention, do it. If we have to pay midgets to go around and yell at girls and boys to use condoms, do that.
    6. Give everyone under 20 free healthcare, free mental care, and maybe even free food. Have a building that they can go to get these things. And if the repups are worried about free handouts, set up some kind of volunteer system where the kids can volunteer at the center or other local businesses as a trade. The key is making sure that their basic needs are met.


    Violent crime in the US is a symptom of other larger issues. It would be very foolish to numb the pain so that we don't have to be bothered by it. It could very well grow into a cancer that destroys all of us.

    none of them. They just want everyone not like them to go away.

    imo, they're going to have to give on something. They're creating their own problems.
