    I still have my grandfathered AT&T unlimited plan D=

    I'd love to use tethering and other features, but there's no way I'll switch plans until they do kill it.

  2. Verizon has grandfathered unlimited plans as well. But yeah, my days are numbered.

    Maybe it will be like texting plans where everyone offered unlimited plans, then no one did, then everyone did.

    I hope so. Phones are getting better at interneting all the time, but 2gb or so is really restrictive when you are doing all the streaming shit they keep advertising.

    Aren't we running out of wifi frequencies or something, and TV companies are holding on to a giant chunk of it that was used for broadcasting years ago? If that's true, the prices aren't going to get any better.

    Prices will get better when either consumers decide they aren't putting up with that shit, or one company decides to undercut the others with cheap unlimited and then the others follow suit. Just like unlimited home internet in the late 90's/early 00's.

    Yep there's a big problem due to not having enough wireless baseband due to tv and radio hogging most of it right now. The government needs to come out and take a large portion of it back

    It's not an open market. The telco system is basically a bunch of little fiefdoms controlling their own turf.

    The cell phone business is horrible. Read the past 2 pages - only two companies are discussed. AT&T was split up into X number of companies and has been reformed into 2. Like that enemy in Resident Evil 4.

    But there is another company. Sprint offers unlimited data right now. It's not like people are flocking to Sprint.

    Thing is - most people don't care about unlimited data. I mean, I like the idea of unlimited data but I use 200-400 megs a month. That describes like 95% of people.

    Yep, unforunately I don't anticipate any large changes until some killer app/phone/whatever pops up that makes these 95% require more data and demand lower prices. I do see more and more "normal" users brushing against data caps/speed throttling by using Pandora and Netflix on their phones.
