  2. I'd rented Resistance 2 last week, and played it through to the end. I played the online part on my last rental day and enjoyed it quite a bit. I decided to pick it up on discount at CC, because the 60 player online play is a blast.

I've been playing a little bit of LBP and Uncharted as well, but I've decided to give the PS2 version of Culdcept another run, since my 360 has been MIA for well over 3 weeks.

  3. Just rented L4D because my main playgroup is pretty enthralled with it. I tried the PC demo, and thought it just sorta felt like another Valve PC FPS, and I like it even less on the 360. The game moves too fast for precise stick control (felt fine with a mouse though), and it's extremely repetitive. Versus is cool in concept, but I was already bored with those levels in co-op, and (currently) there's even less for versus.

Still playing SC4, trying bring my game up with characters I never really used (oddly, mainstays Taki and Mitsurugi). Switched to a 1080p monitor and was really impressed by the texturing and modeling, they really did a nice job with the hair.

Played through the older Warhammer: Dawn of War expansions, and while they're pretty much a StarCraft variant, I'm not sure I don't still like that better than what they're doing with DoW2. The environmental interaction is pretty slick, but unit deployment and upgrades feel a bit too artificial...like you're Future CTFand less like leading some awesome hi-tech army.

  4. Too many games:

Killzone (PS2) - I really like this game. The atmosphere, the art direction, and all the little details. I even like the more realistic reloading. This is my first time playing through the game but it's held up better than I expected it to. Maybe I expected worse or maybe playing it on the PS3 helps.

The House of the Dead Overkill (Wii) - a bit glitchy but awesome. The theme is really well done.

Raiden IV and Raiden Fighters Aces (360) - when it's all said and done, I guess I'm glad I wasn't able to move my J360.

Skate 2 (PS3) - all I need to play and have been playing is Free Skate, but I might as well play the objective based SP.

  5. I'm not playing anything right now except the occasional Call of Duty: World at War zombies run. Nothing excites me right now in the immediate future, either.

  6. The new awesome patch and our Tuesday night meet ups have put Burnout Paradise back into rotation.

    Skate 2- It's awesome.

Rock Band 2- When the urge to rock hits.

Mirrors Edge- I'm on chapter 5 and it's really cool. It looks so fucking good and the sound design is just intense. It's just a shame when the game gets clunky because when everything is flowing there is no other game experience like it. Combat can be cumbersome (multiple blues with guns is aggravating) and missing a ledge do to weird detection or a wonky button press sucks. Still, it's a game everyone needs play (the subway train section is fucking intense and looks unreal).

  8. FEAR 2-about halfway in. I like it OK, but there are things that make this not as enjoyable. I don't like the look of the enemies, they don't have as much combat chatter, the shotgun isn't fun to use (it was a bit overpowered in the first game though, to say the least).

Genesis Collection-I need to play some shitty games to unlock the other games. This tactic sucks. I paid for the games, give them to me. It's not like "Beat level 1 to unlock level 2", it's "play this shitty game to unlock the game you want".

Onechanshitta-Garbage ass junk. AIDS needs to happen to its developers

  9. There hasn't been a interesting Wii title since last September, so I rented a few recent releases.

Onechanbara- Expected something mindless and fun. It's one of those.

House of the Dead: Overkill- If any series could stand a bit more personality it's HoTD. Aside from the annoying load lag and spotty writing it's the first Wii gun game I've enjoyed.

Tenchu: Shadow Assassins- I'm not big on Tenchu, just starving for a decent action game on Wii. It looks good and the developer really put some effort into visual cues and your available tools. Biggest faults so far are non-scripted jumps feeling slow and clumsy and some elaborate waggle schemes. I'm in favor of using the Wiimote to simplify controls, multiple motions to dispatch enemies and perform simple tasks is annoying.

  10. Barnyard Blast : Swine of the Night (DS): Got it for $8 at Circuit City's closeout sale, and it's actually not that bad! It's not fantastic or anything either, but the in-jokey translation is cute, and it's nothing if not challenging. I'm enjoying it quite a bit more than Portrait of Ruin, at least.
