I have a crush on Monica Potter.
A remake of a movie based on a movie based on a ballad. Nice.
The original Last House on the Left has a really strange tone. It catches a lot of buzz for being really brutal when it really isn't all that bad. It has a lot of strange comic relief.
This one is produced by Craven, but he apparently had little to do with it. I actually think they're running out of 70s horror movies to remake.
I just hope the mother still bites off someone's dick.

Boo, Hiss.
There was a semi remake/ripoff called Chaos a few years back with Sly's son Sage Stallone in it. I hear it's pure shit, and that the director would cut wrestler style promos on people who gave it a bad review.
watched the original the other day. in the 70's i could see it as being controversial or brutal, but it was just okay overall for me. i guess things have been more extreme since this was made.
maybe if i started this flick at the beginning of my horror buffity lifespan i would have more appreciation for it. a lot of people have it in their top 10 of all time lists, i just dont see it making mine, not even close
one of my main problems was the soundtrack. if it would have been more ominous maybe the tone would have been set better, but instead it seemed too comical
anyways ill prob check out the remake after it hits dvd
FUCK PLATINUM DUNES
This isn't Platinum Dunes, it's some new company that Craven started. Platinum Dunes is working on Nightmare on Elm Street now.
I pretty much agree with this completely. I came in expecting some seriously fucked up shit and being really bothered, and I came away feeling let down (sort of a perverse line of thinking...).
This movie scarred my mother in her early twenties when she saw it at a drive-in. She sent me an e-mail when she saw the TV Spot for the remake going NOT AGAIN NOOOOOOOOO
I watched the original again too.
It was missing a minute or so, brutal yet I've seen worse.
Chaos is supposed to be ultra sick. Ebert got upset.
Last House on the Left crosses the line into gore porn territory IMO. The F13 remake was perfect for me in terms of gore; enough to make the violence brutal looking, but not overdone. I saw Last House on the Left about ten years ago and was completely unimpressed. Lots of silly rape and gore, nothing scary. Just repulsive.
