Where do you fall on the Deinonychus / Velociraptor argument?

I know this. Velociraptors seemed to be a convenient marketing tool for Jurassic Park. At the risk of sounding (more) like an old fogy, they weren't in the books my mom read to be in the late 1970s.

I always fell on the Deinonychus side of things! Totally true, the Jurassic Park marketing exploitation bit.

Science-but-not-really books started using "Raptor" after that, it was sad times.

Popularized a lot of the "warm-blooded, upright walking, non-tail dragging" theories we pretty much take for granted these days. It's a good read!

Not nearly as dry as a lot of palentology books tend to be.
