Thread: 1TB and larger hdd recommendations

  1. 1TB and larger hdd recommendations

Just looking for any recommendations for a 1tb or larger hard drive. I'd personally like a 1.5tb drive but the reviews on newegg for the two models out there don't give me much faith in them.

Anyone one have any experience any thoughts?

I've been looking at this WD

I just got this one. It's working just fine.

I've had a Seagate Barracuda 1tb drive for going on 5 months now... it used to make this kind of weird noise and scare me but it eventually stopped. Dunno if that's just the way it is or what.

There were also a disconcerting number of negative reviews for it on Newegg, but it's been fine so far.

  4. Go with the WD, it's far more reliable according to customer reviews. Mzo most likely just got lucky with the Seagate.

  5. Yeah looks like I'm gonna go with the WD I posted. Everywhere I've checked online seems to push this one as the best of the big drives right now. Wish they had a 1.5tb that was as good.

  6. I'm running the WD, it's doing just fine. Don't drop it though, I had to get a replacement...

  7. External multi-drive case with at least two drives acting as redundancies. Seriously. I will never again run a large solo drive (external or internal) for the storage of any file that I value enough to keep on my computer.

  8. I have a Seagate 1.5TB and it works great. One day I'll get another one to mirror it just in case of failure.

  9. I've got a 1.5TB Seagate too, its been fine. All the ones with the problems they hard from the start should have been flashed/died by now.

I thought the exact same thing; and then my external drive died before I could buy the second to do the mirror. So, don't make the same mistake that I did!
