Exactly. Remember that if the Wii didn't ruin the graphics and the control, people would hate it a lot less.

I must say, if I enjoyed faggy little jap RPGs with kids running around with huge swords to make up for their tiny peniseses with amnesia and spikey hair, and ZOMG the ubiquitous airship, then I'd have thrown more support behind the SNES in the day.

As it was I tended to prefer the Genesis. Not to say the SNES wasn't a great system. Especially if you were into the above shit which I am not.

And Grandia doesn't count because its a whole nother generation. I love Grandia

Most of that crap didn't become staples of JRPGs till the PS era.

I'd put it on par with Dragon Quest IV. Otherwise you are totally correct.

I really want to play the episodic "sequel" on Wiiware but I'd have to buy a Wii and support an episodic RPG. Both of which I refuse to do at their current prices.
