cool - i need to grab more sentenced albums one day soon.
He seemed like a pretty big fan. He knew stuff of there old Cd's. Kinda Felt bad taking it, but at least it gets me to plug his band for him. Apperently his band Sire is getting a EP released next month.
I also picked up
Katatonia- Dance of December Souls
and
Sentenced- North from here/Shadows of the past
While i was there.
Sorry to ask a stupid question,
But how many albums does Sentenced have?
"I see the world didn't end yesterday."
"Are you sure?"
They have seven full-lengths and a handful of EPs and singles, ranging from doomdeathish stuff to depressed rock shit.Originally posted by Deus13

But since I personally think their music is awful, I'll stop there.
You should buy in a urban city like I live in. Great CDs like Opeth's are always overlooked for the "Hardc0re" rapper. =T
Man I can't find a Kalmah CD anywhere. I do have contacts in Baltimore where there is a great CD store with a great metal selection, so hopefuly they will have Kalmah there.
Considering that Kamlah is signed to Century Media, you could walk into damn near any record store in the US and have them order their latest album for you. It's not hard to find.Originally posted by Rustyridnwthprid

Their debut was released on SPIKEFARM but that's not exactly an obscure label either, so you should be able to get it online. Hell, I KNOW you can get it at The End Records because they have it instock right now...
I don't know why you'd go to so much trouble over a blatant clone of Children of Bodom, though. :P
Because its is some pretty damn good music. Also who cares if it does sound like COB, that means more good music I can listen to. Why do people hate it when certain bands sound alike. It's not like they play the same songs. If you like one band why wouldn't you like the other?I don't know why you'd go to so much trouble over a blatant clone of Children of Bodom, though. :P
Also I just listened to some Norther. Damn they kick ass.
Because I care about originality. Every band that copies another band's material means one less band making something good and new (or at least in a unique way). If a band is ripping off another band, it usually means that either a) they can't come up with anything of their own and must steal from others, or b) they're often trying to cash in on someone else's invention. CoB is popular, so BOOM, Kamlah and Throne of Chaos suddenly appear. Gee, how convenient.Originally posted by Rustyridnwthprid

You'll notice that most of the time, only popular bands whose albums are selling well are churning out the clones. You don't see too many copies of WINTER, VARATHRON, SIGH, or ANCIENT RITES running around, do you...?
I don't really care if bands sound somewhat alike, but when I can't tell the fucking difference between the two bands, THEN there's a problem. I'd rather listen to something cool and different than the same crap churned out over and over, which is what a huge part of metal is lately...
And I doubt I was being overtly hostile in that last post since I told you where you could get those CDs anyway. :P
i can see both a good and bad side to bands sounding similiar - one on hand - sometimes you're in the mood for another band that is in the same style or 'vein' as *insert band here* - simply because you're in the mood for that type of music. Alot of times a band will come along that takes a classic style of something - say helloween-ish power metal - and one ups it and manages to add something different to said style and does it a hundred times better - which is the case with Edguy/Avantasia in my opinion.
But originallity is important - and in the long run I find that you tend to listen to the true original bands the longest. Now - what exactly is original is a matter of someone's personal opinion.
