  1. Kurt's not the most honest person ever though. He likes saying the answers to things that he doesn't know just for answering's sake.

  2. well actually - it was that other guy - you know - that other guy - not kurt who gave us the info - I'm emailing Kurt right now to ask him personally though.

Hey look what I found at the sound exchange houston site - pretty cool and interesting...I did not know that such an organization exsisted.

    COPWATCH:

Houston Copwatch, an all-volunteer group, announces the launch of its Eyewitness Program to encourage the public to step forward if they have witnessed suspicious police activity and/or would like to see a patrol by Copwatch members in their neighborhoods.

Copwatch's Eyewitness Program Hotline is at 713-559-1359.
Copwatch is a nonviolent, grassroots citizens' group that uses video
cameras, notebooks and knowledge of the law to monitor law enforcement agencies. Copwatch's objective is to observe the activities of police to prevent abuse of power and misconduct.

Whether you'd like to meet with Copwatch and make the group a guest in your community or would like to make an anonymous report, the Eyewitness Program permits everyone around Houston to speak out about abuse. "So often, people tell us they see incidents of questionable police activities, but they are afraid to say anything," said Copwatch organizer Ernesto Aguilar. "Copwatch' Eyewitness Program allows a safe chance for people to talk about their experiences.
"If you have seen abuse or live in a community in which police presence has made it a hostile place to live, call us."

  3. I recently saw EYEHATEGOD at VooDoo Fest. I dunno... Every year Michael Williams just gets more and more rediculous.

  4. I read somewhere that Children Of Bodom might have a US tour. Anyone know any more details on that?

  5. Just picked up In Flames- Lunar Strain/ Subterranean. I have to say I was surprised by how different it is from their laer work but it is still really good. The vocals are a bit raspier or brutal and not quite as melodic. I was planning on picking up some Children Of Bodm but when I saw this rare baby( IS it rare? I have never seen it in a store before, but I guess its easy to get on line) I had to pick it up.

Lunar Strain's vocals sound different because that's a different guy on vocals. It's Mikael Stanne of DARK TRANQUILLITY fame. Current In Flames vocalist Anders Freiden was originally in DT and the two bands traded vocalists after their first album, apparently.

And no, it's not rare. Nuclear Blast rereleased it not too long ago. Before that it was quite rare.

  7. Ok that really explains the vocals. I wasnt sure if was rare or not. I have never seen it in stores before, but my town sucks for metal selections so thats not saying much. Only on rare occasions do i see little treasures like this.

I downloaded a fair amount of Antimatter and I suppose I should have know. Thom Yorke has somehow switched all of thier (and Anathema's) songs with his own. Well - it's only bandwidth. Too bad - the album looked interesting on the cover.

I also have been listening to Minas Morgul finally and while I don't like it more than Stronghold I do thin it's good and refreshingly diffrent from the other two I have (that being Stronghold and Mortal Heroes) but not too much so. Something's diffrent, but I can't call it just yet.
Well, the guitar patterns were more complex on Stronghold and Mortal Heroes than the ones before it. Minas Morgul has mostly the blckmetal-ish riffing that sounds kinda like a wall of sound, but the last two albums have some actual chord progressions. Maybe that's it, but I dunno. I've noticed the difference too but that's the only real difference I could find.

Good luck on the Persuader, I've seen it on Metal Disc and Sentinel Steel but that's about it. Hopefully it has better distribution now than it did back when I got it in 2000 or so. :/ Apart from their CD "The Hunter" they have a split CD with Freternia, but the only material on that CD that isn't on the album are a couple of demos, so that's pretty much for completists only unless you like Freternia's brand of happy metal (they sound kinda like Rhapsody except without most of the Hollywood-fantasy schtick).

Now where's the second CD dammit? Raise Hell already has me drooling for it... :/ Of course, since they broke up (and reformed) after The Hunter I should be happy that they're releasing a second album at all...

  9. I bought a bunch of CDs this weekend for $35 total

    Cannibal Corpse- The Bleeding
    Suffocation- Pierced From Within
    Suffocation- Effigy of The Forgotten
    Vader- Black To The Blind
    Emperor- IX Equilibrium

I haven't had a chance to listen to everything yet, but so far I really like The Bleeding, Black to the Blind and Pierced From Within.

And while I'm talking about Suffocation, can anyone tell me how bad the production is on Breeding the Spawn? I've heard the bass and guitars sound really washed-out so I was a little hesitent on buying it. Also, I saw the re-released (and remastered?) version of Human Waste and was wondering how it compares to PFW and EoTF.

The guitar in MM is not so much a wall of noise as it is less varied in the other albums. I like it alot - but I think Summoning could get heavier sometimes. I wouldn't change songs like Farewell and Distant Flame Before the Sun but they could REALLy stand to lay on it sometimes. MM is as close as I've heard to that.
