Thread: The Metal Thread 4.0

  1. yeah its true - good for them i say - its nice that they're finally after so many years getting relatively big support slots. It would be, however, very nice to see the band again as a headliner in a club tour of their own back in Houston - don't skip OUR FUCKING CITY!!!!

"We are finally able to bring you some news on our upcoming tour-schedule.
IN FLAMES are set to join MUDVAYNE & MINISTRY on an upcoming US tour- starting early march! More news & details a.s.a.p." ( www.inflames.com )

BTW - if you go to the website on the main page there is a streaming video posted of In Flames playing "Cloud Connected" live at a nationally televised Swedish Awards Ceremony Rockbjörnen. Its a pretty cool looking performance I think and if you like the band - (nice to see them with an actual production behind them and what not), check it out. Funny shirt that Anders Friden has on as well - taking the everlasting piss I suppose.

Exposure is exposure no matter what shitty bands you tour with, at least you're out on the road. As for Metallica...

    Lars Ulrich in 1999:

"I find myself feeling a tremendous amount of hatred towards Limp Bizkit, and wanting to shove them back where they came from."

    Lars Ulrich now:

"I think you've gotta look at one thing. It's like, the premise is to bring a bunch of headlining bands together, give kids the opportunity to see headline bands play together. Full sets, full production. I have a lot of respect for Linkin Park and a lot of respect for Lim Bizkit. If you're gonna go out and do a headlining thing with two other bands that can do it, then that's where you're gonna go. 'Cause it's not Metallica and four support acts. Like I said, the main thing is about respect, and I have a lot of respect for both of those bands. So I think it's a really cool thing, because it brings together a bunch of different musical things, and I think we've always tried, whether it was five years ago or 10 years ago, or 15 years ago, to bring other bands with us that we respected and brought another element of music other than our own."

Lars is fucking useless, but the part of that quote where he says "So I think it's a really cool thing, because it brings together a bunch of different musical things" had me laughing my ass off.

Yea it's great to see In Flames so popular. Just rather not have to endure Mudvayne again =/

Metallica has become a sad joke now.

  4. Why do people still care about Metallica? I'll admit that they are a great starting band for people who are just getting into Metal, but once you start digging deeper you'll discover a plethora of bands that outclass Metallica in every musical aspect.

As for "St. Anger", Metallica hasn't put out a good Metal album in 15 years, so I don't think things will drastically change on their new album. And I agree with Newsted, it's a joke that they are comparing their new album to Entombed. Maybe some of the later Entombed records when they toned it down a bit, but not the ass kicking Entombed that I know and love.

  5. Meh.. it's news and news so far has been slow in metal (if you really want to call Metallica metal anyway).

IronPlant: Where the hell have you been? The Metal Thread has been an eternal fixture since GG! Each iteration has reached 1000+ posts respectively. Nice to hear about ProgPower though... you might have missed the part of this "War & Peace" sized thread where Blind Guardian cancled a bunch of Texas shows but it happend and me and station missed Blind Guardian... glad you got to see them though. Keep up with the thread now! It's the only really worthwhile thing on this message board.

Good Job In Flames! Getting bigger, but I worry sometimes about that. One can't blame me :/ Here's to integrity I hope

That VOIVOD sounded pretty soft and pretty bland. Not even the rythmic, groovish bland of Katatonia either... it was just *blah*.

    :UN-METAL ALARM: WARNING :UN-METAL ALARM:
Station, I actually dig Jurassic 5. I first heard them on Jet Grind Radio for Dreamcast. Improvise was a cool song :P I still don't think the Beach Boys are anywhere near good though. Sorry :/

Sorry you guys missed out. Had I known at the time, id happly sold those extras to you. It would have been nice to have not seen it alone. But the show was so good that hardly mattered.

Also if anyone wants in on those badges say something now. Once the band list is announced they will probably sale out real quick. After that you have normal tickets and this year those sold out in three days.

    http://www.progpowerusa.com/audiovid.php

Check that out for some videos of the concert. If you want to see some of BG's stuff from the show, email them and request it. Will of the fans, and all that jazz.

  7. When does it go down again? I'm not so sure me and Station can make it but we'll always try.

Its not really decided yet. I'm thinking september, but even that is not final. Being able to insure a way in this early, pretty much means you have to take a huge leap of faith with about 125 bucks. No one knows the bands, no one knows exactly when, and no one knows if its going to be in Atlanta (most likely though)

All I know is, Glenn is going to try to make this one as good, if not better than last this year. And apparently he has someone good enough to justify paying 125 for not knowing anything, pluss 40% of whatever I resale them for.

  9. If it's sept, we likely can't do it... I was hoping for Jan :/

  10. Progpower will always be held in atlanta - and most always in the month of november - the dude doesn't want to compete with the euro summer festivals... and with good reason. Wacken or Progpower... yup... hard choice eh? I'm not into talking about seeing BG live - so I'll decline comment on this whole thing - I'll believe it when i'm banging my head off front row.
