Honestly by the looks of the starter kit, it all looks like kinda a crappy stuff. With Instruments and sound equipment, you do really get what you pay for. Sometimes you get good deals but you'll still have to shell out a little bit.

The pedals are called Distortion pedals or the name of the effect plus pedal, or stomp box at times, there are also multi effect proccessing pedals, but you don't want to confuse yourself with that. You will need a Tuner though, preferrably Chromatic, but you can get away with using a cheap one for awhile.

  2. distortion pedals - do you have to press on them constantly to get the distortion - or is it like a switch to just stomp on once to alternate between clean sound and distortion?

you press it down once and it switches on, press it again and it switches off, just like an on/off button.

there are volume and wah pedals that are diffrent but prolly not something you'll touch for awhile.

  4. I started with a Yammaha

I would really like to get a Keyboard and some sound and video editing equipement (ok, well the Video part has nothing to do with discussion obviously but I would like to get a board that did both). Reason being is I can write some rightous music first on KB and let station take care of grinding on the guitar. I used to play Bass otherwise.

Cool - thats what I thought they were like - I'm sure that while I wont need such a pedal right away - when I finally learn the basics though I'll need alot more effect type stuff. I've already made up my mind that I'm going to try writing my own music first - I might learn a song of someone else's here and there - but I'd rather play my own stuff - its a bonus too because there's no set standard to live up to. But from the odd musical meanderings that I already have in my head I can tell I'd need a distortion pedal cause I'd be switching in and out all the time.

  6. bought my stuff today - ibanez G10 black - and a crate MX-15 (along with strap and cable... didn't get a pedal yet - later). all for exactly 300 bucks (and 88 cents) - fuck - I'm happy. Sleepy as hell now - talk more about it tommorow .

Wow. $15,000? Must've been one helluva guitar.

Pedals. Man alive, I can't reccomend an Octave pedal enough. It blows my mind how heavy the things can even make a Strat sound, and it does incredible things for guitars that already have apretty heavy tone. I love these things.

    FAN-FUCKING-TASTIC

I can't believe I'm saying this, but it's better than LFDGD. The vocals are much more emotive, the drumming went from generic (in LFDGD) to spectacular, and the writing is so much more varied.

Oh my god I love this... I couldn't help but download it

Still holding out on Damnation though...
