Psssh, I don't care if it's pre-rendered, hand drawn, low res or HD. What gets me is that Sega buys into this mentality that old school Sonic isn't a 'real' game anymore. It only belongs on handhelds (Sonic Rush) or as a downloadable game (Sonic 4). Funnier still is Sega doesn't think they can get folks to buy into a full Sonic game for a full game price, so they're parsing it out into episodes.
If NSMBWii proved anything it's that 2D Mario and (I gotta believe!) 2D Sonic can sell. Not because of production values and such (though it can be nice) but because 2D sidescrolling games still resonate with people. I don't have actual numbers but I'd be willing to bet that even in the downloadable ghetto the Sonic rereleases and games like Splosion Man do well too.
probably the most noteworthy thing anybody in this thread has pointed out.Originally Posted by cka

Were you all crying for Final Tuned too?
i was.
Seriously though, this can't be good. Who's developing it? nah still can't be good.
so basically i'll even put crying for arcade ports above talking about this game
That's my biggest concern now. I like the Rush games but like many modern Sonics, they're a bit too "rollercoaster-y" and something in them is lacking compared to the classics both in art and feel. They're not really Sonic 4 material. Genesis Sonics really knew how to balance the speed with slower, more exploratory sections. I hope whoever's developing (hopefully not Sonic Team or Dimps but it probably is one or both of them) studied the level design of the 16-bit games and don't just give us a modern Sonic with classic homages.Originally Posted by dementia_
