It took forever and a day but Trackmania 2: Canyon and Shootmania: Storm are both on Steam right now. If you already own either of them, you can get a free Steam key by entering your CD key from your confirmation email.

ALSO: the open beta for Trackmania 2: Stadium is live. The full version is on sale for $9 and the free beta is under the Download Demo link on the right.

$10 is a much more appealing price point for a single environment than $20. I never did pick up Canyon, and I'm a huge fan of the series.

I tried the beta. I'll probably jump in and buy it when I finish the game I rented, but I have to say it's really similar to United. The graphics are a little better, but it really feels like the same damn game with some new shaders.

There's apparently no way to get your key from your account without contacting Ubi support. I lost the original email. Bummer, but I should be able to hook Canyon up to Steam soon.

The second new Trackmania 2 environment (since Stadium being remade in TM2 doesn't quite count), Valley, is out now, and it's even better than Canyon lol.

It's still drifty, but you get more environmental variety and the mud racing is pretty wicked. It's also gorgeous, maybe more of a leap than Stadium to Canyon was. It has Steam Workshop support and I guess they're adding it to the other Trackmania 2 environments, too. Cool.

And I think custom block geometry is finally in these games.
