Thread: X-Men : First Class

  1. Out of his one eyed trouser snake.

  2. Even with 1/5th of the Phoenix Force Scott is still a little whiny bitch.

    Yeppers
I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.

  4. Did we read the same book?

  5. No matter what happens, Scott will always be a whiny little bitch, much like you'll always be a monster.

  7. That sure does make them look really incompetent.

  9. I liked a couple of the robot masks, the one at 0:47 with the eye covers would've worked. Regardless, I don't see why his normal face wasn't used, not that it matters since the whole movie was shitacular.

  10. Bryan singer says some interesting shit about the Days of Future Past...I still would have preferred a proper, stand-alone sequel to First Class before this time travel/combining old and new X-Men crossover shit, but that aside, this movie could be fucking awesome if Singer pulls it off:

As Bryan Singer reassembles the old team of X-Men from the franchise's previous trilogy - most recently, pulling in Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore and Anna Paquin - there still remains quite a few questions as to how he plans to tie together the mutants of both old and new (same characters, different cast) in order to make the time-bending, alternate universe DAYS OF FUTURE PAST work.

It's in the comics that future Kitty Pryde transfers herself into present-day Kitty Pryde in order to change the course of events that have mutants living in internment camps, with others not living through the anti-mutant hysteria that stems from Senator Robert Kelly's assassination at the hands of a mutant. Her mind travels back in time and possesses her younger self in order to warn the X-Men of the dystopian future that will result if they cannot alter history.

Will Kitty Pryde still be the driving force behind this story arc? Is there another technique to be used other than mind transference?

Director Bryan Singer won't offer up those details just yet, but he is more than willing to let you know the lengths to which he went in order to make sure it all made sense. In an interview with Empire, Singer revealed who he went to for guidance in hammering out the details of those different timelines.

"It's epic. We get to bring both casts together. We've cracked it in a way that makes sense. I had a two-hour conversation with James Cameron about time travel, string theory, multiverses and all that. You have to create your rules and stick with them. That's what makes TERMINATOR and BACK TO THE FUTURE work so well. And there are certain mechanisms in X-Men, certain powers, perceptions and characters, that make this possible. More than any of the movies I've made, it comes to me much more quickly than on other films. With Superman Returns I struggled a lot. I guess it's either my history with the X-Men universe or I have some kind of knack for this particular story."

Sounds like Kitty Pryde's abilities very well may have Ellen Page in the center of this whole thing.

UPDATE: Some more comments from Singer have emerged from his Empire interview, including his thoughts on how faithful and true to The Uncanny X-Men issues #141 and #142 the film should be.

"It has a lot of aspects of the comic. The actual comic of 'Days Of Future Past' had a whole ton of stuff going on, so it’s like any of these things; you have to distill it. But I think the fans will be pleased that some of the most exciting parts of 'Days Of Future Past' are going to be connected to this movie."

As for how DAYS OF FUTURE PAST will slot ionto the movie canon established with his three films, Wolverine's origin story and FIRST CLASS, he's not overlooking any of it.

"I’m taking into account every movie – I’m not just grabbing my first two movies and First Class and smashing them together. I’m taking into account the entire universe as it’s been laid out so far on the screen, and really respecting it and trying to work with that. People took things in various directions, so there’s some clean-up," he confessed. "But ultimately I’m not just ignoring them either."

Yep, this is certainly getting more and more interesting by the word...
