Thread: Finally building a new PC!

  1. Why do you need all that for 7? 7 runs much better than Vista. You said in the Starcraft 2 thread you have a C2d? As long as you have a decent gpu and 4 gig of ram (if you're going x64) you'll be fine.

  2. I only have 2 gigs of RAM (x32) so I hope that's enough.

  3. Windows 7 is over rated imo. Not that it's bad, but it's almost exactly the same as Vista. Other than the start bar you can't even tell them apart, except my Windows 7 system crashes a hell of a lot more than my vista laptop.

  4. Hmmm.... this is the first time I read that 7 is less stable than Vista. I hate Vista.

  5. I use it at one of the computers at work and it ain't so bad. I'm just used to XP since I've been using it for years.

Anyway, can someone recommend a good video card that isn't expensive, has DVI, and will run SC2 better than average.

  6. You have PCI-E I assume? Also, what psu are you using. You may need a new one depending on the card you choose. Finally, what do you have now? Nvidia or Ati?

If you're sticking with x86 (32-bit) you may want to add an extra gig of ram to the system if you have a free slot. It's an inexpensive way to add some longevity to an aging system.

  8. I can buy an extra two Gigs of DDR2 RAM on the cheap. I have PCI-E, yes. My wattage is 600. I will NOT be buying a new PSU since I just bought this one a few months ago. I am running off of on-board video but my old one used to be ATI.

  9. OH! And can they all do 1920x1080?

    P.S. <3 Diff.

  10. The article tells you what the cards are capable of. I had a 4850 in my (now decommissioned) PC and yea, it ran at 1680x1050 pretty well.
