This comment deserves more than one rep point. Therefore I will rep you several times over the next few weeks.
I forgot to mention the camera. Yeah... how the hell did people play the original release with only the overhead view? I would regularly switch over just to see how awful it could be, and I think only once was it preferable to the 3rd person camera. Why was this not standard in MGS1, let alone MGS2, let alone MGS3 first run? Ridic.
It wasn't as big a deal with the all-seeing map of MGS1&2, it was retarded in MGS3 because that was gone so there was no way to know what was around you. I agree it would've been nicer in those games, but they didn't throw you into the game functionally blind like MGS3 did.
Have you played Metal Warriors on SNES? It's very similar to Cybernator.
He's played a little of Metal Warriors, because I made him play it a long time ago. Not only was the game itself good but the Head to head mode was pretty neat.
MGS3's original release with the top-down camera was unplayable. It was absolutely game-killing. The problem was not just the radar but because the maps were much larger and more open.
Megaman X - Ok so after watching Finch play the old Megamans and playing them myself, I decided to try Megaman X again to see how it holds up. It's... a lot worse than I remembered it, Sigma especially. A terrible story tacked on with some cool bosses and some decent stages but really it's kinda boring and not that difficult. I've never bothered with the Hadoken and didn't this time either, so the battle against Sigma was how long could I hold 3 buttons while climbing into the corner and waiting for him and his lightsaber to jump up and down. And then just dodging fire and lightning until I could roll his face when the claw decided to come down. Ok so I guess I could have done those fights a lot easier.
