Imperial Pilsner? That has me curious. I wouldn't be surprised if it was awful, as Imperial would probably mean a stronger taste. Seems like with lighter beers I generally expect them to have a thinner flavor; if I'm going to grab anything lighter than an ESB I generally don't want it to have much body, be it taste, substance or otherwise.

Have you ever had a Pilsner Urquell? I would highly recommend it if you haven't had it. The first and original Pilsner. If you can still find it in the large cans that's the way to go. Unfortunately the distributor has decided to stop importing the cans.

My dad and I have been trying some different Pilsners to find a replacement but sadly nothing measures up.

Just picked up a pack of this. Really good, but the hops overwhelmed the sweetness for the first 2/3rds of the glass. The apricot flavor really was strong towards the end though. The hops and apricot work really well together.

  4. Some Stone's Smoked Porter tonight. Good beer for casual sipping. Not super strong or fragrant like a lot of what I've been drinking, but smooth and goes great with a burger.

Finally opened my bottle of this, and I mostly agree. It is amazing with what went into this that it is pretty much a really good indian brown ale. Though, I can taste the smoky pecan notes, especially in the front. But if you poured me a glass of this and I didn't know what it was it would just be a good, slightly smokey brown ale.

Also had Lakefront Matlese Falcon and Casablanca. Lakefront is a local brewer and they do a lot of special batches for other local companies. Its nice because they are usually really good beers, and you cannot get them anywhere but that specific place of business. The Maltese is a dark lager, which is similar to another brew of theirs that I like but more hoppy. Very good. The other is an amber pilsner that was just ok. Had at one of the only single screen movie theatres left in town.

This was bitter, not like make a harsh face bitter, but certainly not as balanced as I was expecting. Tasty, just took a couple sips to adjust to it. Epic lacing.

Fuck what you heard. This is amazing. Strong burbon flavour. Well worth the price. I'm going to go pick up another one of these on Monday and stash it away for a year or so.

  7. I saw some of that Old Rasputin XII the other day for like $17. Worth it? Maybe I'll pick some up for a special occasion.

  8. It is definitely worth picking up a bottle or two of Old Rasputin XII.

I had a Bear Republic Black Stout the other night, but didn't like the bitterness. I still have their Red Rocket Ale to drink, and a bottle of Allagash Black I'll probably crack this week. I picked up some Samuel Smith organic strawberry something for my gf to try. That any good?
