It sounds like you like SMT but not Persona, which is understandable. Strange Journey is my favorite too, but you're safe from teenage angst with any traditional SMT game.
Throat punch: the musical
One of the main reasons I enjoyed Strange Journey was the plot line of military/scientific types running into a demon invasion, if they somehow warp this into another "meanwhile in Tokyo" with a teen protagonist then go to hell.

All the mainline SMTs are about teens (except maybe 2?) in Tokyo to some extent. He wants Antarctic schwartzwelts and military scientists. This is a remake with an extra character, an extra path, ending, etc; so it won't likely have "meanwhile in Tokyo".
