    Working Designs + Sakura Taisen?

I was looking through an old EGM mag of mine tonight and saw in the Quarterman's news section it stated that WD's was looking into licensing Sakura Taisen for the PS2 in the US.

That would be nice, but since they are working on Goemon and Growlanser I assume it's not on the table anytime soon.

Assuming WD's could get the license would you be happy to see WD's do the translation?

I'm still hoping that we see and Y's collection thru WD's...

  2. I know some people here think Working Designs are a bunch of "butchers", but I don't care... the two Lunar games on PSX are some of the most fantastic RPGs I've ever played. Why? I didn't like the battle system or the massive amount of horribly-tedious monster fights, so what else could captivate me as much as it did? The text and storyline, of course. Unlike so many other games in the genre, the diolague is funny, clever, and written just for us (American audiences). It reads like a great book, so if WD can do the same for the Sakura Taisen series (or any other long-overdue Jap-only game(s); Tokemeki Memorial, please? ), they've sold me.

  3. RED Company said in an interview that WD would not be translating Sakura Taisen, pretty much ever. Don't have a link or anything, but with the rumors that are circulating around the new Sakura Taisen being geared more towards a western audience, the translation is likely to be done by Sega themselves.

BTW, Sakura Taisen 1-3 aren't coming to the PS2. It's an entirely new game (and new series) in the works.

And in my opinion, the sort of liberties WD takes with translations have no place in a artfully constructed game like Sakura Taisen, where the text is of major importance.

Back in the day, right before when SEGA pulled the plug on the DC, I called the customer service line to see if the rumors were true. /they said (among other things) That "Sakura Wars 4" would be coming to the PS2.

    Take that how you will...
