The only PSP thread I could find hadn't been active since 2004, so rather than necro-bumping, I thought it was a good time to start up a new thread dedicated to Sony's questionably developed portable lineup.
In light of the Nintendo 3DS announcement, I'm particularly interested in speculation and/or wish lists for Sony's corresponding portable E3 plans.
Here is what I want:
- Phone - Why did it take SCE and Sony-Ericsson so long to realize they work for the same damn company?
- Dual analog sticks - Not nubs, sticks... and there have to be two.
- Significant internal storage 16-32GB
- Expandable Storage - via Memory Stick support
- 802.11N WiFi - Get this B shit out of here.
- Wii-like horsepower - Better than PS2 but not to current gen due to power requirements
- Improved security - Kill custom firmware so that things like Trophies can be safely enabled
- Expanded PS3 integration - Support pocket BLU, etc.
I am sure there are good ideas I am forgetting or not considering, so have at it... so Sony can disappoint us.

Games finished 2011: 12 games
I'm with you Yoshi on most points but I would like to add:
- Fuck Memory Stick, SD or MicroSD or GTFO
- A way to tie it to the PS3 so when I'm home I can use the fucking TV to play the games on.
Isn't this sort of thinking what got Sony into distant 2nd, soon-to-be 3rd place?
Just making a powerful system that closely mimics the console hardware isn't enough. It didn't work once so making a more powerful system that more closely mimics the console hardware won't work either.
Get the fuck out of here with adding a phone to a video game system. The two don't mesh in functionality IMHO. This isn't adding dvd playback to a system that runs off DVDs.
There is a market for the more powerful stuff Diff, they just need to make sure they also do quality 2D and the cheap shit like the iPhone is doing and at comparable prices. Apps to do "other things" would be really cool too. I think there are a lot of people that are interested in those features that don't want to get involved with buying a new phone or feel that iAnything is the devil.

At what cost though? It costs more for Sony, for fans, and for developers. Will people want to pay what it costs to make a Wii++ level game on the PSP2? Hmm not convinced especially since now everybody is used to paying $3 for iPhone shit.
So they need to build vastly more powerful and flexible hardware, with way more features to do whatever the iPhone is doing. Hmm.
See above.
Everybody says they do but like I said are they going to pay for it? They really didn't on PSP, so I don't see how pursuing an identical strategy would pay off (even taking into account that the PSP was ahead of its time in many ways).
Nice timing. I don't know if it was intentional or not, but it's the PSP's 5th anniversary in North America today.
Anyway, I use mine mostly to play CPS2 and NG games :P
